After about 3 months with the same ol string and in need of a setup I finally set it up a good bit better and threw on some new strings and all i can say iss HOT DANG!
I now remember why I love this thing so damn much!
The Harmonics just Jump Outta this thing!!
It plays like butter and sounds incredible.
i also decided to throw the GE-7 infront of the DSL and Yowsa!! I get a Freakin' Awesome mix of OD/Distorion in the Pre's and fantastic sustain especially now with the re-discovery of my wolfgang!!

All you guys selling your, you guys must either be

1.Totally outta yer' mind son,

or

What kind of pups you have in the Wolfgang?
The stock ones, according to the manual they're Custom wound (For EVH) Peavey Pickups :)

Re: The Wolfgang!

There are some things I really like about them, and some things I don't. Now that I'm a more experienced player, I'm realizing that my preferred specs and Eddie's preferred specs don't really match. The neck feels great, but a 1 11/16 nut width would be a much better choice. That little extra bit of width makes it much easier to play chords close to the nut. I always reach for my Hamer when it comes to rhythm playing, as it's much more comfortable than the Wolfgang for that purpose. I personally find the stock pickups too hot and trebly, which I think has a lot to do with Eddie's hearing loss. Basswood sounds great, but it is way too soft. Most of the screw holes on mine are either stripped or starting to strip. This is under normal use, nothing unusual. I had to use the old superglue trick to fix them. I also don't like that the pickup cavities were routed to accomodate pickups with oval mounting tabs. I had to take a Dremel to the tabs to make the pickups fit. Finally, I find the action is too low near the nut and too high as you go to the upper frets. It seems like they should've routed an angle to the neck pocket to make it a little better.

Mine served me well for a number of years, but I'm planning on selling it in the coming months in order to make room for something that is a bit more suited to me.

Re: The Wolfgang!

Yeah, the only problems I had with my Wolfgang were matters of personal preference. I prefer a radius in the 9.5" to 12" ballpark, the uber-flat fretboards don't really rub me the right way. I absolutely LOVE the back shape though, I'm thinking of using that shape for the neck on my next project. I also didn't really like the fact that the body had no carves or body cuts to it, like a tele. I'm used to my carved-top Schecter and contoured strats/RGs, so it wasn't just what I am accustomed to. The guitar sounded great, and is built like a brick sh*t house, but I just don't reach for it as often as the others so I decided to pass it on :). I hope Darth enjoys it!

I thought they had a 10" radius?

Re: The Wolfgang!

Yeah, I figured it was 15" or 16". What's really odd is that it felt worlds different than the 14" radius on my Schecter. Either way, I'm looking forward to having a 9.5" on my strat and probably a 12" on my next project :).

Like you said it's all preference.
I really like the 1 5/8th nut width, and the trebely High Output Pickups :fing25:

Re: The Wolfgang!

The only problem I have with the wolfgang is the neck pickup. It too hot IMO. I just roll back the volume knob a bit and it alot better.

Otherwise this guitar is perfect...

Yeah, according to peavey the Neck PUP is hotter than the neck..

Re: The Wolfgang!

Weird that the ernie ball musicman axis has a 10" radius for them to be such similar guitars.
