HI,
I went to a store called "arthurmusic" that has the fame of have the most tricky sales man, if you are new in the guitar world they wil sell you a epiphone saying is a gibson, or most likely selling everything with 20% more expensive.

so the call is for the RANGE of prices in this products
Peavey 30 watts clasic series (tube amp)
Leaney 16' watts (tube amp)
Fender twin reverb
Ampeg 40 watts bass amp

tell me the price in dollars and in pesos, multiply the $ for 500, we dont have cent sistem, a coke cost 400 pesos, just for you to know how its our economy (and the national economists said that thanks to the F'089king american "crisis" everything is going to be more expensive)

not sure about the others but a fender '65 twin reverb reissue is $1299.99 so multiplied by 500 it would be 649995 pesos by your coversion method

That's cold-blooded. The most common music store scam is see around here is to misrepresent used and returned items as "new", and then mark the prices down slightly and call it a "sale price".

Re: there is a thief in town

The normal price here for a Peavey Classic combo, 30 watt with one 12" speaker,
is $600. That would be about 300,000 Pesos according to your conversion method.

I knew it! he sales the Fender 150$ bucks more expensive.... well is not that much.... but he wanted to sell me a 15 watts Laney for 300000 (600 dollars), the same price for a peavey 30 watts and I know there cant be so much of a difference.

I remember when I was looking for a 335 copy he show me a Ibanez artcore, the price was less than in other stores, a good deal... then I noticed it didnt have a pickguard, Of course It didnt have a pickguard! the PREVIOUS owner removed IT! 150 dollars cheaper but I dont trust in someone that doesnt say if a guitar is used or not, I finally got it new and with a case for free.

also sells every guitar with a bonus of what it be like 50 (100 if you are stoopid enough to buy his talking).

still he has some of the best guitar on stock, the only danelectro I,ve seen and very good Godins, And also one of that blue robot gibsons!
And has the "rights" for Laney amps, he is the only one that brings them here (i Think it has to be with some kind of music mafia)

What country are you in, bro?

my country is so secret than even we cant find it on a map!
we are neighbours with argentina... do you remember the Argentinian U.K. conflict? argentinians lose because our country men wanted for them to lose.

everything that happends in america´s backyard happens because of us...
Fidel castro? he got the power thank to us His illness? we dont longer needed him
Mexican revolution? we tought it was fun Colombia drugdealing? hey we need supplies..
Hugo Chavez? he was the clown that animated my 10 birthday, he now is a puppet of our desires, His conflict with the king of Spain? It happened in my country so we could have some fun

we control the south from the south, we are the ones that clame for justice... we are V for vendett..... no im sorry thats another movie I m sorry, I am from Chile

Re: there is a thief in town

i think it's pretty much absurd to think an independent shop in Chile could sell their gear for the same price as the likes of Guitar Center and Musician's Friend...

Re: there is a thief in town

Here in Manila, the retailer for Fender gear usually sells at 50% higher than U.S. online prices. For example, a John Mayer sig strat is now about US$2,390... a MIC Squier Standard Strat would be about ~US$270.... The cost of overseas freight is really killing us here.

Another store sells a PRS SE Soapbar II for ~ US$750. It used to be on "sale" at US$490.

Re: there is a thief in town

That's what I'm saying...shipping more units to a store that will sell more units doesn't cost as much as shipping fewer units to a store that won't sell as many. econ 101

Hey, talk to Diego on this forum. He's from Chile as well, and could probably give you some info on the prices of gear where he lives. :) It's not really correct to compare the prices of gear in the US and in other countries.

well thats half correct, you see there is a guitar store close to "arthurmusic" and they sell the same guitars with lower prices, so Why I dont buy the things there instead? I do, but in AMps arthur music has more models.

the things that are fact about him is:
1.-he would sell you a used guitar witouth telling you is used and with a little bit of a higer cost (compared with Deremate.com or Mercadolibre.com)
2.- He would trick you tu buy the most expensive guitar you can afford, his faces illuminate when you say "I have enough money for a good guitar"
3.- His reputation among chilean forums is very low, nobody fully trust him
4.- His guitars always cost more than in other stores, even if is the same model, and if is cheap, then is used or in bad state.
5.- still he have the best variety of guitars in one store (D@mn! he even have a Danelectro!)

To end This, is there really not a difference in a laney 15 watts and a Peavey classic combo 30 watts?
he sell them by the same price.... should I trust him for this time:banghead:?

I was thinking for a vox, but the only one that I found was a AC CC2 with two sepeakers, I dont need such potence.
The other amps I can get are Marshalls, Rolands, Peaveys, carvin´s stacks, and laneys (and used politones), I dont like marhalls and I dont need a halfstack, just a 30-50 watts combo.

Heh, Arthur Music's owner had an awful rep back in the day. His tiny, messy store sold used gear only and the word was some of it was stolen. It was terrible. That said, I never heard or read any stories first hand. Just rumours, but nothing. The guy now works at the same building of the biggest gear stores here in Chile which are very very trusty, and has a lot of brand new gear too. He got a deal with Washburn, Dean, Laney, Evans, etc. Even Gibson I think. Plus his new store is huge and neat, nothing to do with the old store.

I'd trust him. :)
