I'm sure you can spot it. That looks pretty cool. I have the same model/color guitar but this one's not mine. Very cool guitar.. interestingly the middle single coil is the same output as the firebird neck and blueshawk bridge pickups. Thinking about putting a Lollar firebird in the neck and the Duncan 59 blueshawk bridge in it. Both stock humbuckers sound good, but the bridge pup doesn't have as much bite as typical bridge buckers I think because it's a bit further from the bridge. Ok I'm rambling.

Anyways post your unique quilt/flame tops/veneers if you want to keep this thread going.. or just let it die :saeek:

Not fan ofthe color but it sure looks great guitar! I've always wanted to try nighthawk, mainly because of its uniqueness.

How would you say the form factor of humbucker in them affects the tone?

Re: There's a demon in this quilt! Epi nighthawk

The angling of the bridge pup doesn't really float my boat. The pickup itself is further from the bridge than most humbucker equipped guitars, which accesses deeper harmonics. This offers a "whoolier" or less biting tone, especially for the lower strings having the poles even further. If anyone has tried the 59 blueshawk bridge pickup let me know. The JB in this configuration might also solve the 'too dark' issue I'm noticing. Though as it is the stock pickups complement each other well. My fav neck/bridge pickup combo is Custom 5 bridge with Pearly Gates neck. The alnico V bridge, alnico II neck combo always suits me well.. much like the classic Gibson 490R 498T combo.

Further from the bridge gives more output to any given pickup, not less. Bridge pickups have to be wound hotter and then placed close to the strings to make them balance with neck pickups in general.

True stuff! I didn't mention anything about output volume (except in my first post about the middle pickup being especially hot), just the tonal qualities of placing a bridge pickup closer to the neck than normal

Ah yes......took bite to mean vol. Fair enough to say from my own experiences that many bridge pickups in the vintage range don't need such bite

Carry on!!

Yes the demon's eyes, nose and mouth can actually been seen in the quilt under the bridge, close to the strap button. Have a look !

Looks cool, but...I've never seen one (Epi OR Gib) that didn't sound utterly unmemorable

Do pickup swaps help?

I like the demon, and the color! Although I am puzzled as to why they didn't stain it red.

What's crazy is that to the right of the demon are a bunch more smaller faces.
