I'll take both please.

Re: These new Fender Blacktop Basses are OUT-THA-CONTROL!

Both of those are pretty freakin' awesome. I've always had more of a soft spot for a nice J, though.

Re: These new Fender Blacktop Basses are OUT-THA-CONTROL!

Holy crapshack... Been waiting for this day! Finally a J bass for me!

Re: These new Fender Blacktop Basses are OUT-THA-CONTROL!

I like the P.

Maaaan if it came in a 5-string with a maple board, I'd order one right now.

Re: These new Fender Blacktop Basses are OUT-THA-CONTROL!

Very cool! I like the knobs too..They didnt use those hideous witchhats..

Re: These new Fender Blacktop Basses are OUT-THA-CONTROL!

FAIL. (My son has the hots for a 5-string.)

Actually, they're pretty cool, just not enough strings.

Re: These new Fender Blacktop Basses are OUT-THA-CONTROL!

Fender has really been getting it's alternative products in order over the last few years.

Great innovations, quality of build and offering up some real cool mods!!

I'll have what Steve's getting:friday:

Re: These new Fender Blacktop Basses are OUT-THA-CONTROL!

Are these limited editions?

Re: These new Fender Blacktop Basses are OUT-THA-CONTROL!

I understand why Fender is producing these basses but, at my advanced age, I'm kinda stuck in how I like my basses to be.

If they are going to hybridise, I would want a Jazz Body with a P width neck, JJ or MM/J pickups and active EQ. Oh, plop! Fender already did that - the Reggie Hamilton signature model.

And ... what about fretless for "real" bassist? :D
