well, up to this point i only recall playing a 50's style les paul neck, how thick is a 60's slim taper? i want another guitar with a neck not too much thicker than a strats...

The 60 slim tapered necks are a bit thicker than the strats, but no where as thickas the 50 styled rounded neck. I personally don't mind them but alot of people here tend to stray away from the 60 styled neck. Either way i dont mind both, but if i was to see what feels right for me i'd say possibly the 59' rounded profile feels more right for a les paul, thinner encks seem right for strats and other bolt ons.

I've got Paulys with both type necks. I love em all !!!! I certainly don't mind the 60's neck. Both necks feel super to me. :)

My 60's neck is super fast... if that's technically accurate. However, my hand gets tired when doing more complicated chords for any stretch of time. I sort wish I had gone with the standard neck.

Sounds like someone should stay away from the LPs.

LOL!!!!!!!! I personally love the feel of the LP necks. I dont mind the paint, even if im used to the unfinshed strat feel. I like both. If i had a chocie id take unfnsihed but regardless just shave the enck man if you dont liek the glossy paint job. I think it looks great and feels good enough to play.
