There's always the option of lowering the middle pickup flush with the mounting ring, disconnecting it and wiring the guitar like a 2-pickup Gibson.

I've done that and it still looks and feels awkward. Maybe it's something subconscious, but it's just not right unless you raise it. :34: Now if you can find a 2 pup SG Custom, that's worth taking a look at! To be perfectly honest, that middle humbucker doesn't really add anything all that tastefully to the mix (unless you like weird phasey kinda humbucking tones). Gibson had it right with the 2 pup design.
