Things I'll soon be doing to my Tweed Pro 1x15

I've got a Tweed Pro that is good, but not as good as the one I just built for jeremy.

Two things that really spiced this puppy up were making the NFB completely defeatable and putting in an option to switch to Cathode Biasing.

It's a small set of tweaks, but wow does the amp wail!

Sounds good. Tweed is awesome. What speaker do you have in the Pro?

I've got a very non-Tweed speaker in there..... JBL D130F Alinico. It's really more of a 60's era blackface speaker, but it sounds good anyway.

Traditionalists would put a big old farty Jensen P series in there. But I traditionally pretty much don't care for anything with the name Jensen on it.

I prefer cathode biased amps...although none of my favorite blackface Fenders are cathode biased.

And I like less negative feedback than comes stock with most amps.

Learned that years ago when David Hicks taught us in Guitar Player Mag how to install a SOLO CONTROL in the extention speaker jack of a blackface Fender. It replaces the negative feedback resistor with a pot.

Put one in my Pro Reverb and that started me on the amp modding kick.

I think you're on the right track Scott...keep up the good work!

Kinda off topic....but is the Bassman considered "tweed"? Good lord, I opened up a Pandora's Box with wanting to build a Fender kit.

As in a 5F6A "Tweed" Bassman 4x10? Yep. There were blackface Bassmans as well though and those are definitely not tweed. I can show you how to do the cathode to fixed bias switch. It turns the inside of your amp a bit towards the rat's nest end of the spectrum, but it's a pretty cool mod. Disabling the negative feedback is a great use for the useless Ground Switch.

Excellent....I appreciate the offer. I'll PM you at some point as I'm checking out the schematic difference between the Low Power Twin and the Tweed Bassman kits.
