Thinkin about mini-humbuckers for my LP...how are they under high gain?

Was thinking about mini humbuckers, just hot SD ones or something for my les paul because i wouldnt mind a bit more of a single coil vibe...but do they lose a lot of fatness?

IMHO, it's the very best thing you can do to an LP, but maybe I'm biased-
Mini's are still very humb sounding but they do sound brighter and a lttle bit thinner- In other words, they dont reinforce the mids to the degree that most humbs do-

To me this gives an LP an entirely new life, especially if you do the neck pup- It means you can play far more intricate riffs or paterns without creating mud which is so easy on an LP with humbs-

2 of my favorite gtrs lived off of the Delux sound- Duane Alman (Almans bros) and Tom Schultz (Boston) Listen to the variation in their sounds and you will see what I mean-

Last your first question for last- Hi gain yes-
Metal, probably not

Very interested in what you do as this is one of my favorite sounds-

Hmmm now im thinking maybe i could just have one in the neck and keep a nice beefy PAF in the bridge still...dammit im gonna need to get another les paul now so i can have one with a minihumbucker setup and the other with the dimarzio virtual PAF's...what a shame :D

I actually saw a pretty full on metal band once and the lead guitarist was using mini-humbuckers through a 5150...and his tone was great!

I hope this isn't unrelated, but, will minis fit in a full bucker route?
