Looking for Real Life
Right now I have a NYC pedalboards... i dunno the size, 18" across or so, and my chain is
Korg Pitch Black--modded crybaby--ibanez AD9--ehx pulsar--ts9--amp
Good sounding chain, I don't really wanna sell any of the pedals cause they're awesome at what they do, but my band's gettin a little more spacy & we're messing with clean/dirty dynamics a little more, so I think some additions and swaps would be nice. For sure I'm keeping the pitch black, the wah (though it sounds a little stuffy at times it works), and MAYBE the pulsar depending on what else I get, I may find something else with a similar enough function to where I don't need it anymore. I like the AD9 but I wish it had slightly longer delay times and cleaner repeats--it tends to get lost in the mix with 2 guitarists. Also with the weber in the deville the ts9 sounds too SRV for me, I think I'd rather get that blackmore-ish sounding treble booster I've always wanted, a la this tone http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vfjDpF4j3s
I digress, here's what I'm looking at
1 - A good reverb with lots of different functions that can be used on the fly
2 - A good digital delay, preferably with some other function
3 - A treble booster
4 - some sort of rhythm gain boost
For the reverb I'm thinking the ehx cathedral would be hard to beat, and the savable presets/echo/infinite reverb is too good to pass up.
For the delay I'm not so sure. I'd like to get something smallish since the board isn't huge and the cathedral takes up two spaces by itself, but the only one that's really piqued my interest is the boss RV-3, which yes is actually a reverb pedal, but in addition to the echo function on the cathedral I think it'd be about all the delay I'd need
I don't have much access to treble boosters, I've only tried the keeley one which IMO didn't have enough gain, but based on internet demos the strange master looks awesome, I think I could probably get two and use one for solos/one for rhythm and be happy, but they're kind of expensive. Is this a good choice? Anyone have access to a schematic/parts list? I don't imagine it's too much more complex than a rangemaster, and I got a guy locally who could build it for me.
For the rhythm gain increase I'm not really sure. I guess I'm looking for something like the bc108 hendrix fuzz, but a lighter version, something that'll rock some low end and sound kinda fuzzy but with maybe half the gain & ability to clean up more. Ideas?
Thanks guys
