Thinking About Routing For Neck Humbucker In My Tele

Re: Thinking About Routing For Neck Humbucker In My Tele

Necro thread or not, I've gotta add a vote for the SM1. My tele has a Duncan Designed MH-101 in the neck and I love it.

I've got a question of my own, related to this. I'm planning on upgrading the electronics on that guitar soon and have been waffling between the SM-1 or the SM-3. Thoughts? (looking for rock, blues, country, indie type tone)

SM-3 is a bit fuller than SM-1. You can't go wrong with either for your types of music.

That's kinda what I figured. I'll probably go with the SM-3, since I would like a slight fuller sound than what I have now. If I don't like it, I can always switch back to the SM-1 and put the SM-3 somewhere else.

@PFDS

The terms Nocaster, NoCaster and No Caster were originally vintage guitar dealers' nicknames for the Fender solidbody electric Spanish guitar in its transitional period between bearing the model names, Broadcaster and Telecaster.

Litigation by Gretsch obliged Leo Fender to cease using the name Broadcaster. Rather than waste existing waterslide decals, Leo ordered that the lower portion be cut off and just the spaghetti script Fender logo be applied.

No experience with tele neck pickups outside of guitar center but I can say the Seth lover was a great match for the jerry Donahue in my tele.

Likewise for the JS Moore (although I'm replacing it with a zhangbucker) I've got in there now.

Although IMO the strat neck is the single best sounding neck pickup, humbuckers cover waaaay more ground and one with a tap gives you the best of both worlds.

My HS telecaster is my most versatile guitar and that includes my jazzmaster that has 2 p-rails wired for series/parallel and splits to both the rails and p90 coils.
