Thinking about some Aesthetic Changes to my Tele...

I found a 3-ply black pickguard in my parts drawer and held it up to my Tele and thought it looked pretty good. It's a hum-single route. I thought it might look cool with my candy apple red Tele. the top pic is a mock-up of what it is currently. The pic below is what I'm thinking of changing to.

Dig it!!!

I like the last one,the p/up cover kinda "counters" the bridge...

Ye the covered neck hum would look cool. That's the great thing with fender style guitars, extremely easy to alter the overall look and sound of a guitar and its completely reversible.

Re: Thinking about some Aesthetic Changes to my Tele...

Okay, I made an executive decision and went with option 2. I like how the chrome cover of the neck pickup balances with the bridge assembly. The neck pickup is a great PAF humbucker but with 250k pots, it's a little darker than I would like. I'll adjust the pole screws up a bit and see what I get.

I like it best as is. If you do switch to the neck humbucker, I like it better covered.

I like the look
Could you bypass the tone circut (like a strat bridge) to brighten it up a bit

Re: Thinking about some Aesthetic Changes to my Tele...

Red, black and maple is one of my absolute favourite colour schemes for a Tele. My next Tele is gonna be pretty similar. Good call on the covered 'bucker. I like that one best.

When I put a dark and fat P90 in the neck of my Tele, Pwdered Toast Man recommended the Fat Tele wiring to brighten it up a bit without losing the tone of the bridge pickup. It worked a treat.
