It will go in a washburn Nuno N2 most likely

Maybe a 96 LP studio

what can I expect over the custom custom a2?

Thanks

Re: Thinking of a A8 in a custom wind....thoughts?

Stuffing an A8 into any Custom-series pickup to make an Custom 8 is one of the more popular magnet swaps in the forum. It's a great all-around high output pickup. Compared to a ceramic, it's not as harsh, cool upper midrange bite, punchy tight bass but curiously open feel. It's a bit harder a feel than the A2 magnet, not as much squish.

If you want higher output but to keep a similar feel, an Unoriented A5 (UOA5) might be a better choice. Winds up a bit brighter, bit deeper bass, but it's still softer in feel than stronger magnets.

If you search for fowl2338, he has some great samples of the Custom 8 for thrash (though that's far from all it's capable of).

Unless the LP Studio is particularly bright, I'd try it in the N2 first, as it can be a bit too warm in a big slab of mahogany. But tastes vary. (:

I have the CC8 in the bridge of my CS Charvel Tele and it is by far my favorite pup. It is high output, but has a very playful sound.

IMHO, the Custom 8 is the only Custom worth having. Works great in an SG type guitar and some LPs. Should work very well in your LP studio.

Have you tried the 'Blueman signature' UO C5? It's got a following.

UO C5 is amazing, as is Custom 8. You happen to have two excellent guitars for them too, C8 in the washburn and UO C5 in the les paul.

Yeh, I appologize, forgot about the Custom UOA5. That's another great magnet.

would anyone out there have a cc8 in heavier gib lp studio? if so do you like it? or should i go with an uoa5?

Re: Thinking of a A8 in a custom wind....thoughts?

Great now I need a UOA5.... lol

I have a A2 DD in my lp at the moment and really like it, buts its not perfect...the A5 in it was too stiff, even though that should be JB?

I've got an LP Studio with a Custom 8, and it stopped me looking for pickups.

Depends on the wood. UOA5's are a little warmer; A8's have a bit more treble and a little more output. Try one, and if it's not quite what you want, the other probably will be.
