Thinking of modding this

2. I'm definitely going to black it out, nob convincing argument against it
3. I have no idea what pickups for it. But they will be all black./QUOTE]

Get some blackened Black Winters and do it right.

Nah
3 Les Pauls: SuperD, SuperD, Duncan D
1 Les Paul: Duncan SP3-90 Custom (< NOT mild if you don't know...)
1 Les Paul - Pearly Gates

Something else on the milder side, although maybe not vintage side.

Bump for coming up on a year and still no decision

If Seths...explain how this would work in Walnut/Ebony

Besides My four turbo-charged Les Pauls - I also have Dean Cadillacs with Distortions, customs, JB's etc. I have enough hot LP styles.

A2P's makes sense, but I have a Caddy with those. What about....
78's
Whole Lottas
Slash set
Custom/59
59's
Pegasus

I get the Black Winter thing, but I have Distortions already....

Open to other unique combos

What about...

Bare Knuckle Abraxas (sandcast A4, hot wind, get it lightly potted so you can do controlled feedback)
Seymour Duncan Nokie Edwards Hitchiker set (Silverbird blade coil with StagMag coil, wire with triple-shot style splits)
Seymour Duncan StagMag set (have Custom Shop make a matching neck model and do the triple shot style push/pull splits/parallel on both vol/tone)
Bare Knuckle Black Dog bridge, Duncan 59/A4 neck (I have this in my LP Studio, so I'm biased; quintessential 70's rock Les Paul sound)
59N in the bridge, Jazz neck (poor man's Jimmy Page set, lower output PUs, but any amp has the gain now, the 59N tubbiness translates to thick solid chop in the bridge)
59/C bridge, Jazz neck (or 78 Model bridge, Jazz neck; a little brightness in the PUs might counter the walnut better)

I have Seths in korina/ebony, and they are fantastic. But you sort of have to work a bit to get the best out of them. They love dynamics.

I like "blacked-out" on a colored guitar, (black, white, red, yellow, etc.), but on that natural finish, I'd like almost anything else.

I also seem to one of the few in this thread who like's the idea of 59's. I have a USA uncovered set in one guitar, and a DD covered set in another. Love 'em both.

But Distortions are not Black Winters! :)

J/K. How about something middle of the road? Something like a 498T or a Perpetual Burn or something mid output?

Did you decide what you're going to do with it yet?

Beau gets the creativity award today!

59 Neck in the B and Jazz Neck? INTRIGUED!!!

Have not played Seths in wayyyy more than a fortnight. I always feel they need to be in an epic classic guitar or a Semi, of which this is neither...still. Maybe.

A Pearly Gates neck will also substitute for the Jazz N and give a touch more fullness. But you already know what that sounds like.

In Walnut/Ebony?

AI says this....I guess almost anything would work in it.

Yes, walnut is a great tonewood for guitars and basses:
  • Sound
Walnut produces a clear, focused sound with great sustain that covers a wide range of frequencies. It's often recommended for fingerstyle playing and flatpicking.
  • Tone
Walnut has a tonal balance between mahogany and rosewood, with bright trebles and a woody bass that gets richer over time.
  • Sensitivity
Walnut is very sensitive to touch, so it picks up on the nuances of your playing.
  • Density
Walnut is a dense wood that's similar in density and grain structure to Hawaiian koa.
  • Ease of use
Walnut is easy to build with and finishes beautifully. It also glues, polishes, and holds paint and stain well.
  • Durability
Walnut is very durable and resistant to wear.

Almost a year in, and no decision has been made yet?
I will suggest a pair of black Bill Lawrence XL-500's. Because when all else fails - Lawrence stuff gets the job done.
