Thinking of switching to a Texas hots Ant I in the neck position

My strat sounds great, but ever since i did that 50's mod for the tone pot wiring to the switch, it never sounded the same. I also put the middle pickup at the neck for hum cancelling since i rewired the switch to have neck and bridge as a selection.

Does swapping from a normal pickup to the RW/RP version of it, and doing the 50's mod affect the sound? I've found that it has more piercing highs, so i end up turning the tone down, losing mids and upper mids.

Should I revert my strat's wiring back to stock before i consider getting a texas hot for my neck position?

isn't the point of the 50s mod to retain highs?

I'd say yes, if you're not happy then first go back to normal wiring since it's fairly easy, then decide.

that said, and depending on the guitar, the Ants are great pickups.

RWRP shouldn't have any effect on sound, at least, not that I can tell. It's probably the 50's wiring that you aren't liking.

my neck pickup used to be like a 'master of all trades', i'd never flip anywhere else just because it wailed and sang with a certain clarity and upper mid character, but was never piercing to the ears, only to the mix.

I'll just move that wire and see how it sounds, then ill flip the pickups lefty style!

Quencho, I really like the Texas Hot that I have in the neck of my strat. I don't know about any others but it was a terrific improvement on the Tex Mex that came stock on the guitar.

But, if you liked them before the 50's mod but now you don't. Reverse the 50's mod first, then make your decision.
