I think this is why I like the tone more then clips I've heard of other rectifiers the mid range has more of that el84 characteristic (never heard a rectifier with el34s though)

The balance of the circuit is more important than the power amp's tubes. FWIW.

i like this concept

would be cool to have one decent cabinet and a pile of 30w-through-5w heads laying around for a plethora of tones

Li'l Mini Recto action for 90's metal and punk tones...li'l Orange Thunderverb 30 for all the awesomeness you get there...li'l Marshall Class 5 for a tiny li'l Plexi...then get yourself a silverface Bassman or something for loud Fender cleans...

Mesa's been using EL84s in their high gain amps for a few decades now. They don't really produce the fuzzy sound that other EL84 amps do. I think it's because other companies are trying to make their 15-30w/EL84 amps as low headroom as possible, so it gives up and overdrives earlier. Mesa on the other hand tries to make their EL84 amps loud as hell, and include stiffening caps (Dyna-Watt™) to reinforce the low end so the amps don't sag/mush on big transients.

I guess I'm a little concerned about the humbucker cleans, but the clean channel sounds pretty damn clean. I'm obsessed with this amp now. I own a xxx which is somewhat similar to a rectifier I suppose and I've been shopping around for low wattage heads for awhile now. I can't imagine I could ever do better than this micro rectifier, I should probably start saving now!

I have a dual rec with EL34s. It is boss.

Just friggin great, I had just about kicked g.a.s. Hopefully a shop around here will get one in to try, looks sweet.

I hope that is $1000 list and MAP is considerably lower considering what Rectifiers bring on the used market.

I used to love dual rectos and nu metal modern rock

now Im one of the "its just not for me" but still an awesome amp type of guy, about most of the "high gain death metal voiced amps" where people typically use em for the chugga uber extreme metalz

this one in particular annoys me, because it is not very dynamic at 25 watts yet is so sterile with no low end, irritates my ears

the amp is just too abrasive and sterile in those clips for me, sounds like a modeler almost; just not organic like fender and marshall and ORANGE

still cool amp, just not my flav, yo'! looks like a mini me tooly sorta flav sorry to say lol

oh well sorry for the rain on teh paradez

That is a very good point. In the $1000 range there are a ton of amps to choose from, including used rectos. I don't think I'd pay more than $800 for one of these.

Mesa has a firm list price. Dealers aren't allowed to discount.

$1000 Dual Rectos on CL doesn't stop people from spending $1900 on a new Dual Recto... so why would it stop people from spending $1000 on a Mini-Recto?

Good point, also, for the money you spend on the mini vs a used full recto, you are really saving money in visits to the chiropractor.
