I like them.... Ritchie Blackmores sig strat has them. They don't seem much hotter than a normal strat even though they come in about 13k I believe. Where you can tell the difference is the fact that they are fatter/darker/more compressed. I never owned a strat with one but I am eyeing one now. 8)
I had one in the bridge of a tele and I liked it a lot. A very cool sound that is not a single coil chimey sound, not a P90, not a humbucker... just it's own thing and I thought it was pretty cool, I only got rid of it because it was in an affinity tele I got for $20 and flipped for $120. Just had the pickup in it for a few weeks.
