errrmm...sorry, but, NO!!!
I remember a few months back in a thread about nu-metal, just about everyone that chimed in after my post(saying slipknot isnt nu-metal) was agreeing with that statment. and considering they're one of my favorite bands. They're NOT nu-metal. Nu-metal doesn't have solos, and most of the nu-metal guitarists can't play worth a ****.

I was only making a ballpark statement. Since no one has ever accurately described what nu-metal actually it's impossible to define if Slipknot is or isn't nu-metal so I prefer to use the genre title for what bands "I" think roughly fits. I'm sure there are plenty of people who would love to argue that Slipknot is nu-metal but I really don't care.

brown vibrolux - can make just about any guitar sound good, seriously
twin - strat or duane eddie guild

Good info. I guess I always pictured "nu-metal", or that whole general class, with guys playing "reliced" Strats.

Or maybe, LP's.

Slipknot is like Nu-something, they aren't hard enough for rock tho, i call it emo.

Did you say slipknot can play good? heh.....

Interesting. Thats two folks who've put PRS with Mesa. I would never have made that connection.

I read somewhere that one of the smaller labels was having problems because most of the bands they were signing had really sh*tty gear that made touring a nightmare.

So they made a deal with Mesa (and possibly PRS?) where they'd by them new gear at factory cost, so every new band they signed had new gear dropped in their laps.

Next thing you know...it's a trend, and every (pop)punk band out there has a Dual Rectifier.

I think they also made a deal with PRS, but I can't say for sure anymore....but both pop-punk and nu-metal have been known for that combo....it's the Les Paul/Marshall of the late 90s/early 00.
