I've seen the EBMM Van Halen signature models (discontinued after Ed moved to Peavey) go for anywhere from $3500-$1500 and I wouldn't pay more that $2000 for one anyway if I had the money for it... but this kind of overpricing is absolutely dumbfounding. Does he really expect to sell it for that much?

Ah, the "collector", a special breed that doesn't live in reality. Not only do they think if they resell used instruments they will get what they paid, but they'll get back more! Whereas the rest of us are realistic enough to realize that like a car, once a car leaves the showroom, it depreciates a great deal.

And I'm pretty sure that Jesus Christ has some kind of hobby already.

That model is a damn fine guitar. I did play one once. Since they are not made anymore and not many were made, an owner of one could reasonably expect to get his/her cash back and then some. Something is worth what somebody is willing to pay...and I'm sure there are folks out there willing to pay a premium for that special rare axe. EVH went to Peavy because EB couldn't meet demand for the guitar while a HUGE manufacturer like Peavy could/can.

And you can't really compare cars and guitars in this case. A fine guitar can get better over time if played regularly and cared for properly.

I'd rather buy a EBMM Silhouette, build a Warmoth, buy a Bogner 101B and take myself and London_Clash out to a REAL nice restaurant on the money left over.

And since what EBMM is making now is NOT an EVH signature guitar it's an apples oranges kind of comparision.

We know it's the same guitar but we also know what the "Offical EVH seal of approval" means to some rabid fans and collectors.
