By the way -I love the brevity of this post -it reads an x girlfriend responding to a dude trying to win her back begging on her apartment stoop :lmao:

Re: This is one of the Vai tracks I most enjoyed as a kid....

I'm definitely familiar with Savatage and Jon and Criss, great stuff, WKNC in Raleigh played some great stuff back in the 80s and I got turned on to a lot of good music. It's all ice cream, and it's okay to enjoy different flavors, or not, one is not better than the other.

But no, the DLR stuff with Vai and Sheehan did not kill "rock guitar', in fact I think it was more on the positive side. It was more the fluff bands (won't name names), which opened the door for grunge, and being able to dress like a guy again.

Sorry, just my opinion. Cant stand DLR, never could. Or his manpretty BS. And all that image crap played a huge part in that music's demise. When the image became more important than the music, the MSM ruined it like they ruin everything else

I had something else typed out about why post "oh that's crap" on someone's "I like this" or "I have fond memories of this" thread, but I'll just leave it at this.

FTR, Eat'em and Smile is a great record :wizard:

No worries, we've all done it, and we all have different tastes.

Actually, not even my thread, guess I should take my own advice, carry on.

You should check out Criss Oliva. An east coast guy, from Florida. Some were turned off by his brother's voice. His lineage eventually became Trans Siberian orchestra. His protege is Chris Caffery, another great player that most people in the States never heard of. Chops out the you know what

I’m familiar with who he is and the TSO but I’m not all that familiar with his work tbh.
Another name on the “to check out” list.

I’m sure we all remember the Nirvana thread from a few weeks ago...

Uh, no, not really, if it was a Nirvana thread so I probably just kept to myself.

Probably the best thing you could have done. It ended poorly.
