This made me laugh !

Re: This made me laugh !

Ehhhh, Glenn Fricker's the type of guy who thinks only his opinion is valid. He will tell you with the utmost certainty until he's blue in the face that he's correct and when asked why, his answer is "because I said so."

Re: This made me laugh !

His point would be valid if anyone out there used 40 amp sims on a gig. The amp sim guys might use 3 or 4 during a show.

Re: This made me laugh !

I watched one of his vids awhile back. I think it was about that MESA cab sim thing.

He annoyed the **** out of me, and his vids kept popping up into my feed for awhile.

I curse like a sailor, but I cannot take a 45+ year old adult who talks like a 15 year old metal kid. Especially when doing "reviews".

Re: This made me laugh !

Just noticed the GIF in your signature...awesome!

And yeah, the dude could use a nice cup of hot tea to simmer down

Here's a picture of a lamp. He should use it to lighten the **** up.

Re: This made me laugh !

I only clicked on the video to confirm that the bottom of his T-shirt said "Gargle Blaster".

Re: This made me laugh !

99% of these "Keepers of the Guitar Fath" bozos on YouTube are simply clowns in their Mother's basements. The don't gig therefore they can't get any attention onstage, so the wield their nonexistent authority online like some type of six string police force. It is actually sad when you think about it, bordering on pathetic.

Amusing to say the least. Though perhaps overstated, some really valid points.
Of course, the message won't be popular on a forum where people obsess over new/different gear and which is best.

The basic premise is spot on. You do not need high end gear to get a "good" tone. However, there is no need to tear down people that use high end gear. Especially making the assumption that people buy good gear to compensate for talent. His anger is also unsettling. Who cares what someone else uses for gear, plays or their skill level. If someone enjoys playing the instrument that is all that matters. If something like that enrages you to the point you need to make a YouTube video, seek help.

Re: This made me laugh !

I actually agree with him for the most part.

But yeah, don't cut some one down because of the gear they used. My old band used to use 2 crate half stacks and an Ampeg Reverberocket 2x12 (3 guitarists). The crates were the GFX1200H - 120 watt small box. We're loading in, and a guy from another band that was playing Marshalls commented on how great the tone we were getting was. I was floored by that.

Re: This made me laugh !

His older dyslexic non-playing brother ?

Ha! I think its the glasses and the screen shot in the video you posted because when you click on his YouTube channel his back ground is a not so happy pic of him without glasses and doesn't look like the dude at all. lol

I agree you don't need good gear to have great tone. I would say you shouldn't look down on anyone for their gear (can go both ways here, don't knock someone for playing some low price nor high price.)

I don't agree with the medium nor the tone the guy used to get his message across but he does make valid points.

The best compliment I've received on my tone was using a MIM Strat (American Standard pickups) through a Line 6 POD 2.0 that was going straight into the soundboard at the Church I was attending back then. I do get compliments about my tone now, but they are more generic compared to the guitar player who went into great detail about what he liked out of the Strat and POD. I paid more for one of my pedals than I did for that old Line 6 POD. lol

Glenn rules. Most of his videos are good and very straightforward. I like his rather brash style, gets the point across better than trying to make everyone feel good.

Re: This made me laugh !

I could agree with every point he tries to make (and I often do), but there's a difference between not catering to people's emotions and calling someone a c**t because they don't agree with you.
