This Might Be The Craziest Guitar I've Ever Seen

Re: This Might Be The Craziest Guitar I've Ever Seen

Dude, you're talking to a guy who's built the same guitar, like, 50 times.

Not really. In fact, I never made the same guitar twice. Maybe in shape, but never in specs, features, woods, pickups etc etc. Get your facts straight.

About Brian May: he stated that in multiple interviews that the Red Special is a bit complicated. About fx: I don't like effects, never have. But using a delay, echo, chorus etc etc to add flavor, cool. But to build it inside a guitar? Imho, useless. It's useless because it implies you'd only use ONE guitar for your entire career. it's useless because the whole thing is so complicated, one little error or problem and you're bound to spend a lot of time trouble shooting it. With pedals it's much easier to find the problem and fix it or work around it. It's useless because the switches and pots are likely in the way of playing. Agileguy came with my perceived lack of imagination and creativity whereas I think that most great music was written with much less electrickery. Sure, some bands use a lot of fx and can make it work and use it in a musical way. But it's my opinion that I think it's too much. Since when are you busting balls about opinion, by the way? Just because I don't agree with the consensus here, or have a strong opinion, is reason enough to start personal attacks? Can't remember ever attacking you, Kam, Agileguy, MyAccount876? Don't remember going on a frenzy about your opinion or idea if it didn't gel with my opinions or ideas? So, tell me. What's cookin?

You're the only one taking this way too personally. Quit victimizing yourself.

Re: This Might Be The Craziest Guitar I've Ever Seen

I don't think it's a very good approach.

You could have the Kaosspad on a stand and then you'd be able to use it with all of your guitars. I can't see how it would be any easier to use in the guitar itself. Same with the pedals, you could have them on the floor. They'd probably be easier to engage/disengage with your feet, too.

There was a craze when those line6 guitars came out, of transplanting the guts into a normal guitar with pickups (much like the current James Tyler Variax guitars). Personally, I always thought it made more sense to house the guts in a separate unit like a rack and make it work using midi.

If you can't see how you can use something in your style of music (or any style really), you lack the necessary imagination to effectively utilize that instrument. It's not a dig at you, it's just a fact.

As for why someone would use a guitar with everything inside it instead of a pedalboard - that's the reason. You don't have to use a pedalboard. I'd love a guitar like this - I could plug right into a nice channel switching amp and get a bunch of sounds I would normally need a pedalboard for, plus the Kaoss pad.

Re: This Might Be The Craziest Guitar I've Ever Seen

I'm going to guess that the actual guts of the Kaoss pad are not inside the guitar. At least that's the case with Matt Bellamy from Muse, he has the pad in the guitar and the rest of the unit on his pedal board.

So you'd still need a pedal board.

Seems logical. In that case, in order to go with the theme of getting rid of the pedalboard, I'd find a way to put the guts of the Kaoss pad in the back of my amp so I could just plug into that and then keep that plugged into the amp all the time.

If you're not already aware of them, you should check out Manson Guitar Works. They make Matt Belamy's signature guitar and can install all sorts of stuff inside their models.
