This my friends is why you don't ship USPS!

USPS Priority nonetheless. Half the package was torn open. Thank God Ben Fargen packed the stuff inside well. It contained a vintage Accutronics long 2 spring reverb tank, upgraded cables (better than RCA) and 2 new tubes (Electro Harmonix 12AX7EH and JJ ECC83S). Everything works flawlessy, but I had a scare and figured the best thing to do was to take pictures of it before I opened just in case there was damage.

Interesting. USPS has NEVER caused problems with me, and it´s always been cheapest as well.

UPS and FedEx on the other hand, let´s just say they´ve both caused their fair share of headaches.....:smack:

thats how my fed ex packages always look... ive never had a problem with usps... other than the mailman reading my usatoday and magazines

+1...I have no had a problem yet. But I will say that everytime I am waiting on a package to get hear or to get there, I keep thinking about the very begining of Ace Ventura...if you've seen the movie you know what im talking about!

Re: This my friends is why you don't ship USPS!

I'm having some issues with Fedex damages right now. Either someone took my guitar out of the box and dropped it or picked up the box with a meathook. :laugh2:

Re: This my friends is why you don't ship USPS!

Fedex = bad

usps = I only send letters, envelopes, and small unfragile packages through them

UPS = works great for me, also the cheapest.

Re: This my friends is why you don't ship USPS!

DHL's been my favorite so far. Cheapest place I know of and they don't try to annihilate your packages :D

Re: This my friends is why you don't ship USPS!

They must have hired a guy like Jim Carrey in Pet Detective. That's the image in my head of ALL delivery guys. Thanks for making me nervous. I have 2 guitars being shipped to me this week. That's really inexcusable to have a box delivered that looks like that. I could put a box on a donkey's back and send it to Peru, and have it turn out looking better than that! LOL

Thank god you're grandmother's Hummel figurine collection wasn't in there. :biglaugh:

Re: This my friends is why you don't ship USPS!

That's crazy man, I had a box show up to my house from UPS looking very much like that, and the whole corner edge on one end was torn open. Thanks goodness it was only some cables to go to/from my effects loop, and none fell out.

Re: This my friends is why you don't ship USPS!

I love when people say "oh don't ship with this company, look what they did...".

EVERY COMPANY has problems here and there. I've seen damages arise from USPS, UPS, and FEDEX....no one has proven any better or worse for shipping. You gamble either way you go.

Re: This my friends is why you don't ship USPS!

Oh and that reminds me, am I the only one that thinks shipping insurance is a scam. We're paying them to ship our packages and they want extra to get them there in one piece.

Fictous UPS/USPS/FedEX Agent:
"Oh, you wanted the whole thing delivered, not just the remains. Why did you say so? That cost extra."

And by destroying packages aren't they creating a market for there own insurance? I smell a lawsuit, or a federal trade investigation.
Who am I kinding? With Martha behind bars I'm sure they have their hands full.

I always thought that was a load of bunk. Especially when UPS tries everything they possibly can short of a court case in order to pay for an insured package that was delivered broken. Insurance is absolutely necessary.

A while back, when I shipped my Gibson, I didn't use insurance and I'm just lucky it arrived flawlessly, but I was a nervous wreck for a few weeks.

Ever since I've insured it for the full amount and I use DHL because they are a smaller shipping company and I'm pretty sure they'll take care of insured packages better than Fed Ex or UPS.

Re: This my friends is why you don't ship USPS!

Sadly, that can happen with any shipping company. My drummer used to work for UPS and has told me horror stories! Hint. The more you write Fragile on your packages, the less gentle they are with them. He said he saw guys kick and drop boxes with Fragile written all over them.

Somebody must have had one hell of a day with my package :laugh2:

Dude, I think that is a urban myth. Packages these days are tracked by everyone that touches them, if they abused them they would get caught.

And Xeromus, Ive been shipping a long time and have found UPS to be THE most expensive. I havent tried DHL yet, but Ive heard they are cheaper than Fed Ex. I guess it all depends on the size and where to, but I send bulky heavy stuff and UPS was raping me at least double what Fed ex is.

Re: This my friends is why you don't ship USPS!

I've always had issues with USPS. One thing that sucks is that USPS does not insure priority mail, so if it gets lost or damage, you're S.O.L.

My latest bout with USPS is a nickel covered and wax potted JB pickup I ordered from Lew almost a month ago. He shipped it priority mail through USPS and it has yet to get here. Grrr... I have a dead guitar sitting right now awaiting the pickup and the significant other is getting onto my case for spending more money of gear and ordering stuff online. Hehe, she's a nazi when it comes to ordering through the net.

I'm sure the pickup is lost (had a similar incident like this before) and so I'm trying to work something out with Lew. Maybe buy another jb pickup for at cost or something.
