You may have saw these on ebay for around $20 Fuhgeduboutit!
1st thing that occurred to me. When you insert the string lift bar at the nut and tune to 440. Doesn't this create MORE relief than under normal conditions?? Alright,If so just tune down a 1/2 step or so.
2nd- IT'S FLAT ! If they had gone the extra mile and offered it in different popular Radius's? This could be a keeper. Or even go the cheesy way and make it bendable to contour your board. So when your leveling, You have to be mindful of this. With the 320 grit Emory cloth they supply you with, Well if ya don't know what your doing you could turn your neck into a fret less wonder real quick.:smack:
3rd- Crowning the frets. They refer to this as `Peaking' . For this they supply you with 500 grit Emory cloth. After you have tapped off the fretboard ( Yes, they Do suggest this
) They want you to rub along the fret with the notch in the plate . (tilting if necessary:laugh2: ) I guess this could work? But a crowning file, fine steel wool and a dremel with a buffing pad work a whole bunch better.:13:
In conclusion, If you have a El cheapo guitar and a Clue? This could be a better alternative than taking a $200 guitar for a $100+ Pro setup. Most guitars made in the orient are notorious for having soft fret wire. So this Lil' gizmo could help put some life back in it. But keep this away from any Quality guitar you own. The shortest distance between A & B is a straight line. Take it to a Pro and pay the piper. Get it done Right...The 1st time.
