this is why i like the epiphones..you can get a descent guitar ..swap out pickups and pots..and you dont feel guilty about it lol

Are you looking for hotter than vintage? If so, I'd recommend a CC/Seth nickelcovered. The CC has better tone and balls than most PAF's, and the Seth neck has sustain and a beautiful lead voice.

That is exactly the combo I use in my Hamer Monoco Super Pro...nickel covers and all! My buddy Rondo brought over his '03 Les Paul with alnico 2 Burstbuckers and we compared his ax, my Les Paul with Tom Holmes humbuckers and my Monoco with the Seth/CC combo and after we were done Rondo said about the Seth/CC combo: "Boy...that might be the best one right there."

Haven't tried that set in a solid body though...only in my chambered body Monoco.

It IS an awesome sounding guitar!
