Thoughts on BlackStar Fly3?

Re: Thoughts on BlackStar Fly3?

These are Great little amps I own one, the sounds that come from this unit is impressive to say the least. The battery power lasts a long time . When I practice at the campground its what I use, I also use it when playing at campfires. You wont be disappointed.

I have one on my work bench. Great little amp and it doubles as a nice set of music speakers

Re: Thoughts on BlackStar Fly3?

A friend has one. It's nice, but I'd go for a slightly bigger portable amp if the budget allows, like the Boss Katana Mini.

That's way more expensive though. The Blackstar is just ridiculous for its price. It's really good.

I was looking at the Boss Katana 100watt head, but the guy at the guitar store wouldn’t show it to me (apparently it not something beginners should buy...) and it’s 3x the price.

LOL, that is total BS, it would be a great beginners amp. Can't comment on the Blackstar, sorry.

Re: Thoughts on BlackStar Fly3?

Just did a small gig this afternoon with my Blackstar Fly 3. It was quite a large room, a Gentleman came up to me after I had finished, said he couldn't believe the sound that came from that little box. He is a player himself, showed him the features of the amp he said he was impressed. Asked me where I purchased it from and the price, wonder if I will get a commission on sales.

Re: Thoughts on BlackStar Fly3?

Have it and love it. Perfect practice amp. I’ve even used it at neighborhood parties with an acoustic player and was told to turn it down because I was too loud. I’ve used it as an external speaker just for listening to music outside. I plug in my iPad and YouTube backing tracks and jam out. For me to get metal tones I set it on the clean channel, and plug in my Line 6 M9 stomp box modeller and use their Metal Zone model or their home grown Line 6 distortion with some delay.

Best $50 I spent in a while.

Re: Thoughts on BlackStar Fly3?

Oh yeah, and Pete Thorn has one and loves it too. Saw one of his YouTube posts where he shows it as a great hotel room practice amp.

Re: Thoughts on BlackStar Fly3?

Yes, it would make a great beginner amp as long as the multitude of effects do not become too distracting (ie, lots of time fiddling with sounds but less time actually practicing).
It does have its own built in speaker so you can leave your stage cabinet in the van/practice hall.
I predict more amp heads with a built in speaker hitting the market soon as it makes things so convenient.
