Thoughts on the EMG 60A

And I do love the sounds Gibbys make. They just don't do like some Duncans do and turn into entirely different pickups when you go split/parallel/phase.

I haven't tried any of the Parallel Axis pickups. They definitely seem interesting, though! Is the PA Distortion as hot as the DCR would suggest?

Rex_Rocker , sorry for the delayed response.

I haven't tried the PATB Distortion. I have tried the Original and it is a tight, bright, hot, hi-fi sounding pickup. I imagine the PATB Distortion will add more fizz and grit in the top end at the expense of clarity.

I will install the PATB Distortion (and its single coil sibling) in my Sustainiac'ed Jackson DK2S sometime and let you know the results.

What's the Fluff pickup like? I know Voice 2 on it is pretty much a clone of Voice 1 on the Adler bridge pickup. I'd be down to give that a try. I love my Adlers. But what about Voice 1 for the Fluff pickup?

And I agree about the finish options. I have a set of Adlers that have always struggled to find a home and are just sitting around right now, because they look so attrocious on almost anything, LOL.

Man, the Fluence voices can be so subtle when playing through my Axe FX. I have a v1 modern I need to unload but from what I can remember is the Fluff is a 'better' version of the modern, tighter where it needs to be when playing in C or lower. Looking at the specs, the modern variants are so close. I know that wasn't helpful at all.

Know I am a bit late, but noticed an EMG 60TW. Would be sweet if they did a 60ATW. EMG confirmed the 60tw has the thinner footprint like an 89. I wish the 57TW wasnt so tall.

I agree, the EMG outlet store is such a great thing. Great deals over the years. I wish I could try the HZs or the A2 Revelations, or even MFs sigs.

The PATB series intrigues me.

I think the Distortion name is misleading. Unfortunately, I went so long without trying them. They really are a great musical set and quite diverse.

even the patb2 being as hot as it is, still has good clarity for being what it is. its not jazz neck clear, but its really damn good

krovatron , I just looked at the site and I don't see a 60/60A tw? Could you direct me to it please?

jeremy , I really like where they were going with the Parallel Axis pickups. To me they are everything good about the Distortion/Full Shred/Demon with fewer drawbacks. I wish they were more popular.

I think the way they look is a big turnoff for those that like tradition (most guitarists).

When I see a PA come up for sale used I will grab one.

Mincer , you will be happy to know I finally ordered a BW to go in the place of a Pegasus in my PRS 277 tuned Bb.
