Thoughts on the Non-USA Hamers

Now that I have the new Mark IV I was looking into a new guitar to go with it. I was checking out the Hamer Sunburst Archtop Double Cut, they look pretty nice for the price. I have to find a place to try one out, but I thought I would ask some of you guys/gals for your opinion first.
I have never really cared about owning a show piece of a guitar or collectable. I just like nice playable axes since I don't plan on ever selling any of the guitars I buy.
So my question is, are these guitars worth the effort to try out? Or would I be better served saving my cash and buying either a Dean Hardtail, or a USA built Hamer??
Thanks,
Lou Driver.

Re: Thoughts on the Non-USA Hamers

i once owned a non USA Hamer Centaura. Not a bad guitar at all but i never fell in love with it.There were some minor issues with the fretwork.....not very good hardware e.t.c For the player on a budget i think they are good guitars but if you are already experienced with usa guitars like usa hamers, fender ,gibson e.t.c the difference is quite big.Infact i sold that guitar.

The ones I've played have been pretty decent. I agree with JohnJohn regarding upgrading things on it. The fret work wasn;t as clean as on a USA model. Still, they're a good guitar for the money.

A friend of mine has the Explorer, and it's a pretty nice guitar. Really solid.

Ditto on the electronics upgrades, though.
