I'm no expert on this stuff, but it looks good to me. I'm no fan of FX loops either...most of them suck away tone from the amp anyway. I like vintage style amps better like the Plexi and '59 Bassman, so I would very much like a setup like what you have illustrated there!

I DUNNO? Using a Plexi for cleans is kinda like useing a sports car to get groceries.:chairfall If this is what you have on hand it will work. I'd be more inclinded to use a fender reverb combo for my cleans. This way you can kill off the reverb tank. (Less outboard gear the better IMO) If you do have a original Fender reverb tank? Them Lil' Sucka's are worth Big $$. You could sell it and get a Fender combo. If it's a reissue? It still has some value.

you could go vox valvetronix and free up the complications and lugging of equipment and slim down theft potential from the 2 amp heads
I personally like it since all you really need is a good clean sound and good dirty; alot of pro guitarists have 2 amps: www.guitargeek.com

I love Marshall cleans a whole lot more than Fendercleans

I don't deny having liked nu metal! gotta say borland had monsterous metaled out tones! his cleans were saturated with effects. dual recto fan here - what a versatile amp!

I went through those multi-amp rigs for so long that I finally got sick of messing with it. Not a day goes by that I'm not glad I sprung for something like a Bogner or Diezel. They cost money out the A, but if you sell off a bunch of other stuff, and condense it into 1 superamp, you'll be glad you did.
Whoever said the Ecstasy couldn't do great cleans didn't know what they were talking about. It sounds like a big glassy JTM 45, then I can switch to any plexi tone possible, and hit a 3rd channel for monsterous chunk. The Bogner spoiled me to the point where the bar has been raised too high to pass. I use the mixable FX loop with nothing but an EH Holy Grail to mix in reverb. I'd never go back to a multi amp rig again.

I would, but this is a $5000 amp vs $1000 amp situation (in Canada), and I'm not sure I'll even like the idea yet.
Plus, I'm focused on a particular sound....so I'm going to be careful when I search out the "super amp" version. I love my Boogie, it's super smooth....but I also want the option of a more "jagged" sounding amp, and I want to make sure I choose the right one.

Borrowed one tonight. Great tone. This one sounded somewhat stiff and brittle to start with, but it thickened up and started to grind at about 4 on the volume. Hopefully I'll get another chance to jack the volume up tommorrow....I'd like to see what this volume on 8 thing Plexi owners keep telling me about, and I'd like to hit it with some fuzz and stuff.

I dig the rig idea you're thinking about. John Frusciante does some similar concepts with his rig (Marshall Major 200w amp for clean plexi tones, Marshall Jubilee for high gain rock).
I'm perfectly happy with my Bogner Shiva with its hotrodded JCM-800 overdrive and plexi like cleans, that is the one amp I've been truly happy with both channels on (can't say that about any other amps I've ever owned). If you don't want any compromises, a 2 amp setup just might be the only way to go.

They also have folks that are paid to carry thier gear.
The night I walked into a gig with a guitar in a bag on my back, a case in one hand and a combo in the other it was a total revealation to me. I actually started enjoying gigging again!

I'm with these guys though....if you're gonna go two amp rig, go with a combo...I very regularly go guitar-> effects -> delay dry to a blues jr. and delay wet to my super reverb...great combination of amps..and not completely backbreaking

Screaming Daisy. Since you already have a lot of great Mesa gear, have you considered going with a rack setup, using the Mesa Triaxis, Recording Preamp, and 1 FX unit, into a Mesa 100/100? Then, it could all be midi mapped, so you'd have a boatload of tone options. It's a lot easier to lug around a 10 space rack and 1 stereo 4-12.
And the Bogners really are designed around EL-34's, and sound best that way, IMO.

I'll be looking to rock some more Bogners when I get the chance, but right now I can't afford one so it'll have to wait.
Yeah....switching from a rack, 4x12, guitars, pedalboard, ect to just a guitar and a combo with some pedals stuffed into it was.....libertating.
That said, even though I know better I'm still looking to do this for some odd reason.
That's been an idea that's been stuck in the back of my head. That said, I don't find it any easier to lug around a pair of heavy ass combos than I do a head and a 4x12.
I agree, but I'm staying away from rack gear for one simple reason;
some guys like to have a few dirt pedals laying around to suit their changes in mood......
.....I don't use dirt pedals, but I still have changes in mood.
I don't want to be locked into one complex rig that requires programing. I want to be able to say, "I feel like playing 'X' amp tonight", or "Tonight I'm going to wire a couple of amps up through these cabs and front end a fuzzed out delay into this one". I love every amp that I've ever owned, but sometimes I just get sick of playing the same old sh*t night after night.
