Thoughts on this Jem.

Re: Thoughts on this Jem.

I can't see dropping huge amounts of money on a guitar you can't play first.

You're also paying a lot of money for that handle and vine inlay. There's plenty of Prestige guitars out there for less.

Re: Thoughts on this Jem.

Find a better one locally. The 555 was the junk budget model- with the inferior trem and I saw many in stores that I wasn't impressed with.

Re: Thoughts on this Jem.

Is is particularly a Jem you want? The 555 is basically a MIK/MII RG with Evolutions and a monkey grip/lion claw route - tell me it's not a rip off. Used MIJ Jems vary, depending on what they are (e.g. swirls, blue floral = big $$), but they can be hard to come by for less than $1500. Perhaps a place like Craigslist might have something cheaper; eBay not so much.

So, if you're not set upon getting a Jem, a MIJ RG is way better money. You can get quite nice used ones for less than $700.

Re: Thoughts on this Jem.

One of the main reasons the 555 even exist was to help combat the flow of Asian knock offs. You can get a Prestige level RG for the same money, and it will be twice the guitar.
