Through the air with the greatest of ease, that daring young man on the flying...

JeffB

Let it B
Trapeze!!!!!!!!!

Had this for a coupla weeks, deciding. Think I am gonna keep it. It even named itself already. Yes it flies in the face of convention and is kinda fuggly, but it is very practical for my needs and is far more toneful guitar than what it is replacing (and plays a fair amount better too cos of the bigger frets). the Dirty Fingers PLUS (A2) was a SUPER cool high gain pickup...crisp and chewy at the same time.. lotsa midrange, cleaned up very nice with the volume.......but too hot for me. That is a 57 Classic (standard) low in the ring in there now and I put speeds on it. if I keep it long enough will prolly change over to nickel hardware, creme ring, and gold speeds.

EDIT- yeah that is my little Girls bubble wand and container of bubble soap there.

Seems like a nice guitar . . . but they put the neck humbucker in the wrong place. :P

That's sweet, dude. I like the simplicity of it. Chrome or even gold hardware would look great on that.

The '57 Classic is a neck or bridge humbucker. ;)

love the black... I'm a big fan of black guitars but I don't think I would gel with this guitar, semi hollow shape without being semi hollow ? BLASPHEMY!

Re: Through the air with the greatest of ease, that daring young man on the flying...

Its built just like a 335/345/355 but with no F holes, i.e. like a Lucille.

Acquired taste I know, but sounds huge and more like it has F holes than my Epi 335 WITH F holes! I was worried about no F holes, but the tone is there. Trapeze helps to keep it airy. With the baked maple board it sounds more like a 355...clear, quick attack. Very punchy.

And the controls are in a much better spot. Its not much to look at but very practical. I can get some good distorted neck lead tones just rolling the tone off. I fooled ErikH with a clip I made. He thought it was the Slash neck in my epiphone ;)

I think Gibson should have called them Juniors, and not Studios, cos that is really what it equates to.

I know it flies in the face of convention and do not expect most people to love it, but it has got the goods where it counts.

Edit- some ad copy says no binding on the board. Not true, it has black binding.

Well sound and playability is more important than looks that is for sure... Sometimes simple is the best way to go. I had no clue they made semi hollows without f holes!

Enjoy that beast!

And a clip of the horrendous thing if anyone is curious

Re: Through the air with the greatest of ease, that daring young man on the flying...

Pretty cool. This is the first I've heard of and seen one.

Re: Through the air with the greatest of ease, that daring young man on the flying...

Thx John!

I get the impression most 335 fans hate them,.which I understand as I did a WTF when I first saw one too.

Mine compared just as well or better than a 335 satin and a barely used Heritage 535 I played locally..:shrug

Well, so did I. In a good way! Love it to bits in the looks department. Doesn't sound half bad either.

Re: Through the air with the greatest of ease, that daring young man on the flying...

not much to look at? you're kidding right?

It looks like a jet black timberwolf.

I would rock that thing until the wee hours every day. pure badass.
