Let's see your latest pedalboards!

Rather than just a pic, a little explanation of why you're using each pedal would be awesome....

I'm unpacking all my stuff, and it might be time to finally build up a board with all this stuff. ;)

My gig rig: Comp, Delay, Chorus and ODs. Basic and pretty self-explanatory. Just used for light space and depth.

Wampler Pedals (because I 'understand' the sound of Brians pedals and they truly do have a level of up=leveled quality (that elusive last 10%) and consistency in them) and an Ethos OD which is my main OD for a 'base' Dumbelesque dynamic sound. Looking at other options as some pedals change from amp to amp, guitar to guitar. Cheers!

Re: Time for a pedalboard thread

Top row is: Eventide PitchFactor (does too much to list - mostly a lead tool), Eventide Space (mostly used for reverbs), MoogerFooger (flange and occasionally chorus), NEO Ventilator (Leslie, chorus, and tremelo), Moog Expression Pedal (to control the PitchFactor for Whammy effects), Morley Mini Wah/Vol.

Bottom row: MXR Carbon Copy (slapback and such), DOD Mini Chorus (mostly used for widening), Phase 90 (I use a slow sweep on some leads), soundbloxPRO Classic Distortion (first 3 banks are set for fuzz, light to heavy buzz - 2nd three banks are set for distortion, crunch - modern high gain), BBE Freq Boost (for overdriving my amp or breaking through a mix), TWA: Triskelion Harmonic Energiser (gives me the most amazing overtones and drive), Fender Pedal tuner

Re: Time for a pedalboard thread

I use my whammy mostly for downtuning a full step down and using it as an octaver. The bad monkey I use as a boost and solo or lead boost stacking it with other pedals. the Wren and cuff tall font Russian I use mostly stacked with my Catalinbread SFT for a super sputtery fuzzy tone. the hardwire sc-2 I use for more modern sounding tight heavier rock. I use the poly tune to obviously tune lol, Use the visual sound angry fuzz for just octave up fuzz leads and riffs. I use the Catalinbread for my stoner rocky type ampeg tones which it cops amazingly and stacks VERY well with all my other dirt pedals so I tend to have the SFT on all the time and finally my two delays a boss ps-3 and a garagetone axle grease delay which I use for more post rocky stuff and creepy echo pick scrapes etc.

Re: Time for a pedalboard thread

I have 2 boards, one for writing/rehearsals and one for recording. This is the writing/rehearsal board; the other changes too frequently to even attempt to say it's anything close to permanent.

This board is built for versatility and simplicity.

BEANO BOOST. I love this boost with my Strat and Tele, especially with the Champster amplifier.
MOOER CHORUS. It's small and covers swirly modulation just fine.
BB PREAMP. The last word in overdrive pedals for me. (I only own 2 ODs at the moment) Works great with any amp, especially the Studio 2.
SUN FACE. Fuzz Face style tones, works with just about all of my guitars well and favours the Champster.
MOOER ECHO. It's small and covers delay just fine. Can be very noisy w Fuzz running so its use depends a lot on what is going on musically.

The spot where the Wah Probe is at rotates constantly - either the WP or a Fuzzfaceless Mk1 Tonebender or Haunting Mids v1 Fuzz. Then the Turbo Tuner which is the best tuner on the planet, to the Diamond Comp which I love for goosing cooking amps, into the Naga Viper which is my main solo booster, to the Dirty Little Secret for my Super Bass tones, Echorec for uh - echoes!, the Spring Chicken for trashy reverbs, Antelope MDEQ EQ/Buffer for any freq tweaks, and finally to the Arion SCH-1 for faux Leslie stuff out stereo to my two amps.

You ever think about swapping the Sunface and chorus positions? Probably get a lot more dynamics out of the Sunface having it after the Beano.

very off topic but I LOVE the SFT I got from you guys, I want to hug the person who designed this pedal for an awkward amount of time...

Re: Time for a pedalboard thread

Terrible phone pic, but here's my board. The empty spot might be filled by a Walrus Audio Iron Horse, if I like it. I want another dirt flavor there, regardless.

Signal path is Micro POG (tuner on "dry out") -> Rook -> Volume -> DD-20 -> Flint -> Dispatch Master

Re: Time for a pedalboard thread

So, I go into the 535Q wah (which is set for a very thick and syrupy sound, more so than the Jerry Cantrell). Then into the rotating distortion spot (it switches between a Tubescreamer and the CB78). After that I go to this really old Electro Harmonix Small Clone with the switch (which is so worn out that it's lost the detent) up. That goes into my 10 Band EQ (obviously set for a mid boost). This is really the only piece of gear that I couldn't live without. Finally, because I use Distortion pups with a high gain amp, and a fair amount of gain from my pedals, I have a Smart gate right at the end, with just enough gate to take off the extra noise, and still allow some feedback to come through when I want it to. A Dunlop DC Brick powers the whole thing, while it's all inside of a $40 Roadrunner pedalboard gigbag.

Just got the Colossus Friday, I'm already head over heels for it.

Explanation in signal order:

Tesse RMC6 Wheels of Fire: Traditional wah stuff. I got it because my band decided to cover Man in the Box, but I've been finding it very useful. It doesn't sound like any of the wahs I've used before.

Sonic Research Turbo Tuner: This one is interesting. I actually use it to put my guitars OUT of tune. I've found everything sounds better when the notes aren't the ones you want to play.

Drybell Vibe Machine: While it may be the only authentic Uni-Vibe circuit I've owned, it's absolutely fantastic. I use it when I want some modulation with more character than my other mod pedals. It's extremely reactive to your touch dynamics, and the low end throb can be a bit much if you don't know how to use it right.

Analogman Sunface NKT275: Old school fuzz tones mostly. Sounds great going into the Weehbo when my band does Hendrix.

Basic Audio Tri/Ram Muff: Perhaps my favorite source of distortion I've ever used. Through my 68 Bassman, it sounds absolutely incredible. I use it as a most-purpose distortion machine. If I want something with a tighter low end and less fuzz, I use the Weehbo.

Mojo Hand Colossus: I got this to supplement the Tri/Ram with another muff type. I've only used it twice really, so I can't say how I'll use it differently from the Tri/Ram, but for now I'll just experiment with going back and forth between them. I like having the two colors on my palette so much that I'm going to pick up another muff variant soon. I will say this though - I liked it so much at my gig Friday that I didn't even use the Tri/Ram. That's saying a lot because I've used that for about 80% of my distortion needs since I got it 8 months ago.

Weehbo JMP Drive: I don't think I've ever been as impressed with a distortion pedal as I was with this. Wonderfully crunchy, articulate JMP tones in a Phase 90 sized box. I use it as a most-purpose distortion machine. If I want something that's got a more abundant and wooly low end and DAT FUZZ, I go for the Colossus or the Tri/Ram.

Timmy: Wonderful booster. I use it to get more volume/gain for solos.

Infanem Faye Sing: Just an all-around great phaser that doesn't sound at all like any MXR offering, which is what drew me to it. I use it to accent distorted rhythms mostly, but it's great on clean passages too.

Diamond ML Jr: An incredible delay, undoubtedly. This one I use mostly for clean work, but it will cover all of the delay needs of 85% of guitarists.

Strymon Orbit: Ridiculously versatile flanger. I've got a chorus type tone set up on the favorite switch, and a bit more than subtle flange tone for the occasions I want to get mah flange on.

Strymon El Capistan w/favorite switch: My favorite delay. I tend to use it more for solos and when I want a warmer delay tone for cleans.

Re: Time for a pedalboard thread

I have this DIY pedalboard with a Pumaboard look and PT Mini dimensions. It only contains the amp footswitch and a Bogner Ecstacy Blue. I don't think I need other pedals right now but an addition of a delay pedal would be nice.

Here's my main FX Pedalboard.

In the FX Loop...
- MXR Six Band EQ: Basic EQ for fine tuning my amp's sound.
- MXR Smart Gate Noise Gate: With so many pedals, I have more noise than I can stand. (I had an ISP for a while, but my Wah sounded weird with it).
- MXR Carbon Copy Analog Delay: Almost everyone has one of these, so it's self explanatory...
- TC Electronic Hall of Fame Reverb: I love a small amount of "Dark" reverb all the time for a bigger sound.

In front of my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe...
- Road Rage Pro Gear Dual Buffer Patch Bay: With so many pedals (A lot of them being true bypass) I needed a good buffer.
- Dunlop Original Crybaby Wah: I don't use it much, but when I do, a regular crybaby is all I need.
- MXR ’75 Vintage Phase 45: A Phase 90 was way to harsh to my ears, but this as just the right amount of "Funky" I want.
- MXR Custom Comp: I use to have a Dyna comp but wanted a more transparent compressor that still had that classic "Dyna Comp" sound.
- MXR GT-OD Overdrive: A Tubescreamer type OD with more balls (I use it mainly for a "David Gilmour" sound).
- MXR Custom Badass Modified OD: I use this one for more of a Blues sound (Bump switch always engaged).
- Carl Martin PlexiTone: I use the Crunch channel for a AC/DC type sound, and the High-Gain channel for a EVH type sound.
- MI Audio Crunch Box: Great for those 1980s boosted JCM 800's sounds.
- Wampler SLOstortion: My latest acquisition (I needed a great lead tone with more drive than my Crunch Box, but that wasn't Metal sounding).
- Electro-Harmonix Metal Muff: A great all around modern metal pedal (Perfect for Pantera and everything afterwards).
- MXR Micro Flanger: The less used pedal on my board... I would probably use it more if I could set it to be more subtle (I would replace it with an MXR Flanger if I could find the room for it).
- MXR Analog Chorus: A versatile chorus that can do that 80s sound perfectly, but I use it mainly as subtle chorusing effect to widen my sound.
