I just got done playing Dixie for about an hour trying out the new pickup combo.

I gotta admit, the old DiMarzio really shines. It pairs up really nice with the PG neck. It has the same huge tone as my other SD PAF styles but a bit more glassy and airy sounding. I'm really digging it!

I really like the Custom, except for the black hardware. I would have stuck with the gold, or chrome/nickel would be good too.

Back in the day, I had a buddy who played semi-regularly in the Philly/South Jersey club circuit. He had a pair of Les Pauls, one custom, one standard, both wine red. They were sweet pair.

Yeah, another minus for the black hardware for me, but it's yours and if you like it...

Nothing tops the amber though.

Every wine Custom I see has gold hardware. I thought about using nickel, but I ended up liking black more since it kind of makes the flame top more "visual". It also gives it more of a blood red look and reminds me of a sexy vampire. I used Grover tuners and changed the bridge and tp to Tone-Pros. I like em.

I like it, actually. Got the same color and the same tuners, they're great. Prolly shifting to gold, thouhg, since my LP is all black, and I'm getting kinda sick of the look.

Funny. the Ballbat Paul is the only one I woulda kept probably.Maybe not.The slight to moderate difference does not matter as much in a a Les Paul as a Thin U neck on a Strat guitar ( and gawd dang the new Charvel Thin U Les Paul- thats just a travesty of nature) .
Lucids prolly got bearpaws, and i got measly littel fat grubby mitts , but yet I like 50's necks and he goes for slim 60's. Go Figger.
