i can sort of make out the first few chords, depending on how they tune their guitars... i think to D-Standard

so how do i figure out what they're playing, just by listening to the track?

you know what i mean? like, how do i go about to figure out this song?

Listening to the complexity of the playing, I'd normally just say "figure it out by ear," but if you have to ask.... maybe you should try to find the tablature?

I'd start with an easy riff like the one at 0:40. Sounds like a bunch of chunks on the low E (the pattern of which you just mimic), followed by two chords - first up (they sound a half step apart), then two down (again a half step). You can pretty much hum it, do a mock version on your axe then play with it to fine tune the position. With the ending ditty to the riff - you'll just have to toy with, but you can probably get away with doing something close and having it sound very similar. Chances are, it's a modal run, you just need to find some key notes first.

(I need to check this album out; some cool riffs in there! I've never given this band or Master much of a chance, I need to get on that.)

It's all power chords bro, just play along till you get it. A tab of that is gonna look silly and most of it is in the rhythm. Don't make it harder than it is.
