its ironic that i just got into the eminence speakers and then Scott F made a thread about one. anywho.. as i said im interested in them. but can u guys recommend one for that zakk wylde yet iron maiden metalish tone? i know itll probually be a red coat but i dont really know the difference between coil material and dust cap material and what not. soon, i think, im gonna get a marshall dsl 50 and 1960 cabs. but i have to save up. (im researching now)

can u guys help me out for the tone im looking for?

Re: tips on speakers

Don't ask me the model number, but I like the 75 watt 12's. You can find Emminence speakers in more places than you probably realize. Carvin speakers are Emminence as are Yamaha, and I'm sure there are more. The Zach Wylde / Iron Maiden reference is probably best left up to your amplification. Middle of the road speakers (Note that I'm not meaning cheap, but more like "well rounded") are probably your best bet. Last I heard, Wylde uses EV speakers and I'm pretty sure Maiden are still using Celestions.

Go to the Gear Page and ask this question on the Amp Forum. The guy that owns Roccoforte Amps is totally in love with THe Tonker. He claims it's the ultimate heavy rock speaker.

Check the Emminence website. They have a comparison chart.

But I tell you what, I'll cut and paste your question over there and we'll see what they say.

Re: tips on speakers

Hmm, this "tonker" sounds interesting, where are the Eminence drivers made?

Western country or third world country with an oppressive regime that doesn´t know what Human rights are? (read the latter as China and Celestion. No Celestions for me, thank you)

*Edit* Just looked myself, MIUSA if I´m reading right. I just may have found my new speaker manufacturer :smoker: :cool3:
