Title Change.... Caitlin is born...

Re: Title Change.... Caitlin is born...

The amp is out of my hands. Keith, my son was under instructions to take it to Fed Ex tonight if the fed ex guy didn't show up. It was 5:30 and he came home from working out and took it. I need to get him to send me the tracking number for it and the FullDrive2Mos I sent out to another forum bro.

It's pretty much this 5E9Aschematic...

The trannies are beefier than what is on a 5E3, but the control scheme (minus the tremolo) is the same. These two circuits are not that different.

The trick was finding a chassis. No luck on one that had proper letters so we made a faceplate for it and cosmetically it works very very well. I actually dig the look quite a bit. So, I used a pro/bandmaster/super chassis. The power trannie actually fit in there but not with the same holes. I just used large washers to help hold it into place and it worked flawlessly. With the larger chassis there was plenty of room to work. Like I might have said above, I might have to build myself one. But, just as soon as I do, someone will want to buy it and I'll rationalize that I can always build another one and sell it.

What? did they go pete townsend on it? Truth be told, I cross my fingers and say a prayer every time an amp gets shipped.

Re: Tweed Tremolux...

Re: Tweed Tremolux...

Yes, I wanted to have tremolo in the amp, but I also wanted something that would closely emulate a specific tone Scott and I were checking out. It happened to come from a 1960 Fender Tremolux, and when I heard it, I knew that was the sound for me.

The tweed Fender Deluxe has great tone, and that was my starting point, but not the ending point.

I don't want to put words into Scott's mouth, but I think he agrees that the tone on this little baby is drool-worthy -- different from the Aislinn, and more along the lines of what I want for my own rig.

From here it certainly looks drool-worthy. I'm droolin' for one. Keith, Thanks for the reply.

EDIT: I wonder how it would sound as a 2x10 combo.

Whilst Scott may pray a lot when he ships an amp. Mine was received extremely well packaged and without any damage from Texas to Singapore.

Great job Scott!

PS: It quickly became the envy of all of those who played through it!

Man I love trem.

If I may ask, did you notice any significant difference in tone from the MM trannies?

I have no baseline to judge this as this one was the first I've built. MM has a cost break set up such that the more you buy, the better the discount. It's a cumulaitve thing. So, if I go with them for tweeds and my blackface thing, I'll eventually get the price down to where the heyboers are. But with the Edana, the heyboers sound so good, I will not change them. The EL84 amps already use a manufacturer that is the cream of the crop.

Re: Title Change.... Caitlin is born...

I should be getting the amp Monday -- that's what FedEx is telling me. I'll make some clips ASAP.

Re: Title Change.... Caitlin is born...

What a fabulous amp! I'm a tremolo fan and I can just hear that pure soul! Can you throw reverb in that baby-so like, a deluxe w/rev&trem?
