Ok this has been bugging me for a while and I don't know if its a defect or just normal for this pedal.
I own the MXR EVH Flanger and not all the time but more often then not when I try and plug it in, turn on my amp I get a faint swooshing sound coming out of the amp speaker while the pedal is off. If I hear this and I turn the pedal on, I get a really loud sound kind of similar to when your tv loses signal and you get snow but also sounds a bit like a siren mixed in with that cause of the pedal sweeping, I guess thats the best way to describe it if that makes sense, either way its loud as hell. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
I've tried plugging it in so many different ways and same result, its random sometimes it'll do it sometimes not. Tried with the amp off, plug it all in same thing. Tried it by turning on my amp first same thing happens. Sometimes its fine and doesn't matter how I plug it in, and when it does happen it seems to stop randomly. I usually plug in the input cable first, flip on the pedal then off, turn the knobs a few times, plug in the cable going into the amp next and its usually fine. The weird thing is once it stops the pedal works flawlessly, turning on or off, EVH switch whatever but unplug it and theres a chance it does this again. Like I sad weird sh*t, maybe the batteries are low but I don't use it that much and last time when I changed batteries it started doing it shortly after but not right away. Anyone else experience this? Hope its not a defect, cause I love this pedal.
