To all my Bros!

Re: To all my Bros!

+20 on the weekly tips/tutorials

+1 on the tab software

Maybe a forum for newbs where the new people can ask all of those newbie questions (can i make a humbucker with two sc's and a roll of duct tape?) and the experienced players can go answer them from time to time. and, it wouldn't push down the original advanced topics with things that have already been posted 20-30 times.

and as far as prizes for contests, how about something like a $5 e-coupon. it's five dollars so kinda cool to win, it's online so even people in other countries could get it. and it's only five dollars so a few of them could be given away without anyone going bankrupt.

R W,
I agree totally. Do you run through the house system @ your church?

Re: To all my Bros!

The forum is nice. However, can you pass along something? The Tone Wizard seriously needs some more options, i.e. music playing styles, possibly "what kind of amp do you use?", more stuff that might influence pickups like:

1) More wood options. Sure, you can classify them together for what sounds the same, like alder/ash is right now. Just more options for woods, like "body wood" and "neck wood" and "fretboard wood" being separate, or maybe "neck type (bolt/set)", etc.
2) More pickup recommendations. I don't ever get recommended for classic stack plus pickups, and I've honestly tried to find a combination that would cause it to be recommended.
3) A downloadable tone wizard? Like in a spreadsheet or in a stand-alone PDF or HTML file? That way SD can minimize the traffic along that thing for people who might possibly use it, like guitar mod shops, etc. By the way, I would GLADLY help make this possible!
4) More styles. Add southern rock. Or maybe add a separate "pickup type: (vintage/progressive/modern)" like the humbucker page is already laid out.
5) Possibly a SD-sponsored (but not directly affiliated) clips section where people play their guitars in specific generic amps? If we regulate it a tad, it should produce good results, or lock it out to specific forum members, etc, with login. I wouldn't mind recording a ton of clips with different guitars, etc.
6) The installation instructions pamplet for the single coil pickups. The one for humbuckers is on some pages, not not the single coil one.
7) Wiring diagrams: is there any way we can move from one-menu-with-75-options to a more logical "pickups" "# volumes" "# tones" "splits? (yes/no)", or maybe wiring diagrams separately that link to each other?
Maybe more on "how to design your OWN wiring diagram" would help SD's site with traffic too...

Please understand that I would be more than happy to help with any of the above. I'm just wondering if we can make the interfaces more easy to understand, and also possibly help SD's site not get as much unnecessary traffic (not like they don't want traffic, only so that people can use stuff offline rather than pounding the site).

Ok guys, I am going to go through these pages and pull out all the best stuff.

I'll have a list and some suggestions/requests soon.

The only thing I want is for Kiss to be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Other than having Robert elected president, I'm cool.

Re: To all my Bros!

one more...

i saw a tutorial thread by octave doc about splicing pickup cables/basic soldering.

it would be nice to have an aditional button/icon, not unlike the Report post function, where we could nominate a thread to be moved to the vault.

also.. while it's nice to have the vault as it is, i'd like to see one that would be tech specific, without other nonsense, however fun it may be
