To all SH6/TB6 DISTORTION users....

... to all of you R'nR dudes and headbangers!

I want to know what you think of the Distortion in overdrive/classic rock applications.

Also, some say it sounds too compressed... and/or too dark...:scratchch

I'm currently buying one for my new Strat...affectionately called "StratEater"... :smokin:

I like mine Mal, just slapped a full set in a LP Classic i just acquired. I like 'em alot. I don't find them very compressed at all. Mine clean up well, both bridge & neck, with a little rolldown. I have some Strats, but they're all S/S/S. I do have a Hot Rails in one of them & I love it. If you've ever heard a HR in a Strat, then I would say the DD is a little more open and a little more gritty, IMO. The HR seems a little darker to me even though it's in an alder Strat compared to a mohogany Les Paul. Therefore, I leave you with my meager observations and hope you take away something useful. Good luck.

Peace,

Darrin

My charvel with a distortion bridge just arrived the other day. It's definitely not dark. I don't know why anyone would say that. It's bright, but I like it. Great for raw distorted rock, just like its description says. It still has it's individual sounds with different notes though and doesn't sound like a mixed mess of distortion. I havn't had quite enough time to fully make a judgement yet.

Re: To all SH6/TB6 DISTORTION users....

my DD kills. i dont see anything wrong with it at all. i dont really know if its compressed or not (all i have to compare with is an invader), but whichever it is then thats what i like. its perfect for all my metal needs. i definately dont think its too dark, actually for a while i wanted some more bass to it, but recently its been just right.

Re: To all SH6/TB6 DISTORTION users....

Compressed? Nah, it's in your face!

Tight lows, bright highs, scooped mids. If you need more mids, raise the middle poles. It's a metal pickup, no question.

Re: To all SH6/TB6 DISTORTION users....

I actually like my PA-TB6 better than my Regular TB6 it sounds more crisp.

Re: To all SH6/TB6 DISTORTION users....

Well.. I just received the pickup... no need to argue more! I'll post my comments later this weekend.
