To anyone doubting the power of Laney Amplifiers :D

Hey, put together 4 different Mattias Eklundh solos (The guy I've been interviewing), from his band Freak Kitchen, to show off some tones you can get with a Laney, I believe he uses the VH100R, but correct me if the model is wrong. People say the VH100R has the exact same gain channel as the GH50L/GH100L series. (I believe Paul Gilbert use a GH100L, obviously good for shred)

I just edited them "together" into one file:

Re: To anyone doubting the power of Laney Amplifiers :D

By the way remember he uses no effects (At least that's what he says)

Re: To anyone doubting the power of Laney Amplifiers :D

The guy is mad. He's making all those crazy noises with harmonics and his floyd.

Re: To anyone doubting the power of Laney Amplifiers :D

Yeah, exactly..And this is only 4 of his solos.. he has made numerous cd's with Freak Kitchen and he has released a couple of solo albums too.

Re: To anyone doubting the power of Laney Amplifiers :D

I've heard some of his solo stuff but don't own anything by him :)

If you check his website http://www.freakguitar.com/ and go to the licks page you can get to pages where he shows where all of the harmonics on a guitar are

Re: To anyone doubting the power of Laney Amplifiers :D

Yeah, I know his site, but I'm glad you're saying it, people might wanna check it out. All these solos are from Freak Kitchen though, but it's the same man, so..

Re: To anyone doubting the power of Laney Amplifiers :D

I am normally not into any type of shredding at all. But I REALLY dig this guys style of playing.

Re: To anyone doubting the power of Laney Amplifiers :D

He is not just shredding...never had, he is old news around here, but it seems that world is discovering that great Swede.
He is a combination of imagination and some funny and off the wall skills.

Re: To anyone doubting the power of Laney Amplifiers :D

But he says himself that he sucks for anything else than his own style :laugh2:

Re: To anyone doubting the power of Laney Amplifiers :D

did he play anywhere else.. that guys name is awfully familiar =/

Re: To anyone doubting the power of Laney Amplifiers :D

I guess you know him from Soilwork, or Evergrey?? however, I do not know what he contributed with on those records that he guested.

Re: To anyone doubting the power of Laney Amplifiers :D

He uses a Laney GH100L, I know because my friend is friends with him.

He achieves those harmonics via a metal washer he wears on his finger as well as the floyd.

I went to a guitar clinic at Berklee and sat 10 feet from the man and his amp was on 2, it was quite loud. He says that he sucks at learning other peoples music and is just happy playing his style, and if not that then applying his style to another musicians work. I have a DVD of the guitar clinic and watch it all the time. The only effect he uses is a wah for a cover of labumba. Very talented guitarist.

I find that funny that he was part of an Yngwie tribute CD because he trash talked Yngwie at the clinic. Maybe I shouldnt say trash talked but rather sed him as an example to point out what not to do.

Re: To anyone doubting the power of Laney Amplifiers :D

It's not my playing, it's his (I wish it was my playing! damn that would be awesome!)

My bad, but are you sure he doesn't use both the VH100R and GH100L?

Re: To anyone doubting the power of Laney Amplifiers :D

By the way BluesGuyJ, when I talked to Mattias he told me he will make an real and official instruction DVD, better than those he did for Young Guitar etc, and he will release it sometime in the future. This guy is a ****ing master, maybe not at all styles, but certainly at the style he plays.

Re: To anyone doubting the power of Laney Amplifiers :D

Cant wait to get that DVD. He is a very humble and down to earth person. Before we all went into the clinic he chilled with us and just shoot the poop for a few minutes.

I was gonna cry if that was you playing, I would have been so jealous, haha.

My friend went off to his guitar camp this past summer in Sweeden and had a blast.

Re: To anyone doubting the power of Laney Amplifiers :D

Man now I gotta buy another CD. This guys way more than a shredder.
