To buy or not to buy

Re: To buy or not to buy

Did you see the price on the Musician’s Friend link? $749. Does that differently with you?

Re: To buy or not to buy

That faded cherry burst finish looks fantastic! It looks like it comes with some solid features (Gibson '57 p'ups, Grover locking tuners, locking TOM and tailpiece, and a hardshell case), which would minimize the need for aftermarket upgrades. As long as you have the opportunity to return the guitar if you're not happy with it, and you're okay with the price tag, I don't see why not. Again, I'm really digging the faded cherry burst finish!

Re: To buy or not to buy

I have the blue version. I think it's a nice guitar. It feels good and plays nice. I have no regrets buying it.

Re: To buy or not to buy

If you don't buy it, then... you won't have the guitar for about two minutes before the next one comes along.

Re: To buy or not to buy

Most all used gear in Canada goes for 50-60% off sticker price, so that price is not a steal. Instead it's a standard used starting price point.

Re: To buy or not to buy

Speaking of idiots, did you read the OPs post or just have trouble comprehending it?
He's talking about spending $600, not $1000.

Relax. Your attitude is unnecessary. Don't be an irate d bag.

You completely missed my point. Doesn't matter how many bucks. I was saying that Epi will always be a poor man's LP, no matter what shrewed marketing tactics wrapped around it. I don't care what clever name Gibson will slap on the next line, 'Elitist II', whatever...

If he's gonna spend that much money on an Epi, better off get an MIJ replica, Tokai, Greco, Burny, Yamaha, best bang for the buck.

Re: To buy or not to buy

I have one of those in black. Epi bashers are going to bash, but mine is a very nice guitar. That particular model is cool cuz it has Gibson pickups (I figured Id swap em and could get a good price selling the Gibbys, but dang it, I like em..) has upgraded caps, push pull pots, grover keys.. Mine plays and sounds great! Id love to get another 2. another black one to put diff pups in and a Blue one..

Re: To buy or not to buy

Yep, I would buy it as long as it plays ok and isnt beat up. I have the red one and its a great guitar. Many here dont just hate on Epiphone, they love to hate on those pickups too. TBH, it took me a few weeks and I got em dialed in. Thats the one with a real maple cap? Throw in the free case, its well worth it
