The shellac has been the biggest revelation in this. I had some left over from refinishing a table and it works so well I won’t use sanding sealer anymore. I brushed the shellac on aith a foam brush and after sanding makes the lacquer spray go down silky smooth.

I have used flakes, but the premixed stuff works great.

Haven’t tried that but I am sure it performs similar. Curious to know if that has a longer shelf life than regular shellac.

My to go paint shop warned me to use 10 year old open can (french brand Liberon) on a guitar top. So i bought a fresh can. My wife recently came up with an 50 year old chair. I said what the hell and used up the old can. Great result.

Crazy to me how shellac is still made the same way in 2018.

Decided the finish was going be a black sparkle/glitter thing and ordered some paint.





Unfortunately, the black did not work out as well as the past colors, so I sprinkled some gold and pink into the mix.







I know it looks pretty rough in the pics, but trust me.

Scraping and sealing





Headstock painted, sealed and "Les Paul" waterslide added.



A little more fine tuning and then ready for final clear.
