toggle switch trouble?!?!

ok, on my kelly, i just got new pu's in cuz the tech thought it was the pu's that werent good (i bought it used so that didnt seem to irrational)... so that was good, got it back today.. played fine.. NOW the bridge pickup position wont work (on the middle it only picks up the neck) i opened the back of it thinkin it was the switch but everything seemed to be intact.. there was a bare wire on the position wired to something which i thought was wierd but i dunno bout this.. (the wire had insulation near the toggle but not to the pot or whatever they wire it to) im thinkin that bare wire might be touching something and causing a short or if theres something wrong... note that this was the exact same problem that made me go to the tech in the first place :smash:

lol im assuming you think hes ripping me off... but i know him and i KNOW hes not.. hes a good guy... BUUUT i think he overlooked the wiring when he put the pups in.. im almost POSITIVE theres a loose connection in there cuz the sound never completely dies.. when it isnt working right is sounds like its on clean at low volume.. then when it does work it sounds like a normal Distortion would.. that part im not sure of so by that im guessing it might be at the volume pot?

If he wired it up and it doesnt work, then he is ripping you off. He needs to fix his own ****up.

my only guess y he didnt look at it was that it works.... then it doesnt... so maybe it was working then.. but yea hes gettin married now and hell be gone for a while and im too chickensh!t to try wiring it up

bump again... but does anyone, no offense DSS, but can anyone sort of tell me whats wrong dependin on what i said? i know enough to reconnect a wire.. i just dont wanna screw anything up if i try

try going to the seymour duncan site and looking up the schematics for whichever style guitar you have. just trace each wire in your guitar according to what the diagram says, and if anything is in the wrong place then you'll be able to tell where it should go.
