My Tokai Love Rock in transfering and getting more vintage specs as time goes by. The original switch started to act a little wierd so I decided to do a rewiring with a Fake58 wiring kit. CTS Pots, Switchcraft switch and jack, vintage braided wire etc.
This project was alot more complicated than I first though it would be... Biggest problem was the metric to imperial conversion.
I removed the original wiring hassle and tried installing a pot. First problem was that the pot didn't fit in the hole, it was too large. So I took a pen and taped sandpaper around it and sanded the holes 'til they were large enough. When I finally got the holes big enough I faced the next problem. I should have ordered long shaft pots not short shaft that I had ordered. So I had to sand down the "rough" parts of paint and wood inside the cavity, cut the little metal pieces that is sticking up from CTS pots and replace the washer that "should" be on the cavity side with a thinner one...
EDIT! Guitar has now got the name "Thursday Burst". Here's a link to a "report site" I've made about it!

...Finally the pots fitted in there after some work
But as you see it was REALLY tight.
This is how it ended up after a little work with the soldering iron. (The wires to the switch are a too long though, they got cutted later on) I wired it up with the 50's wiring mod of course since that's what I'm shooting for here
Next problem was when I was about to install the switchcraft switch. Which as alot less threads than the original. In other words the maple top was all too thick for this switch...
So I faced the fact that I had to sand the top thinner from inside the cavity. Which neither was really easy, it was very tight so I had to tape sandpaper onto a gluestick and use that to reach down and sand. IT TOOK A CRAZY LOT OF TIME! to get this done.
Almost there
I finally got it sanded enough to just fit the original nut that came with the switch so that it'll hold in place until I recieve the deepthreaded nut that I ordered today together with new gold bell knobs (to fit the CTS pots) and a amber switchtip.
Now the question. Did it make any difference to the tone of the guitar? The answer is "Yes it did!" It's fuller, more complex and harmonic sounding and and the knobs are alot more useful. Doesn't go muddy as fast as before! Overall I enjoy the guitar ALOT more now, not that I didn't enjoy it before but it's even better now!
