Tokai QC issue

Hi,
I've read somewhere that some of the new tokais had some QC issues a few years ago and that made Ishibashi pull out of the dealership. Is this true? If so, what production years should I avoid if I'm going to buy one. There's a guy in a forum selling an LS 80 model, serial num 0509513. Anyone who can teach how to interpret this number? Thanks.

I confirm that Ishibashi stopped stocking Tokais a year or two ago because of the finish quality issues. Otherwise they say Tokai guitars are good. They can still order one for you, but the waiting time is 4 months due to backordering. That's why I bought myself a used 1993 Orville by Gibson and I'm happy I did.

I cannot tell you about the years, but I suppose since Ishibashi stopped selling Tokais in 2006, the issue started earlier, so I suppose it's better to avoid anything produced after 2004. But better ask this to the forumites on the Tokai forum, they know better.
