Tolex/polish_conditioning

Re: Tolex/polish_conditioning

Will wd-40 take off the white paint/scuff marks my cabs get from hitting doors and walls?

Re: Tolex/polish_conditioning

I would imagine WD-40 and armorall might soak through the tolex and damage the adhesive that holds it to the cab? I dunno. Just guessing.

I leave mine crusty.

Re: Tolex/polish_conditioning

Murphy's Oil Soap will clean/recondition old tolex. Gearjoneser just remarked on this topic recently. I've used M.O.S. with great results. Armor-All will certainly make it shiny, but it also makes surfaces slippery...so be advised.

Re: Tolex/polish_conditioning

Does armorall leave residue? it will be pretty close to a couch, you all know what that means if I get the fabric dirty. Will Soap oil handle some light markings (chalk from walls and swipes from car trunks) on the fabric infront of the speakers???

Re: Tolex/polish_conditioning

I've had good results by first scrubbing using dishwashing liquid mixed with water, then doing a coat or two of armorall. However, if you use armorall on the top of a cabinet it will make it a little slippery for the head sitting on top.

Re: Tolex/polish_conditioning

For normal dusting, I just use soap and water on a wet rag. It actually shines it up pretty nice without over-doing it like armour all would...
