Hi i have a Seymour Duncan SH-8 Invader Humbucker and i was wondering if anyone knows what and how Tom Delonge (Blink 182) wires his guitar

Re: Tom Delonge

well now ud want a gibson Dirty Fingers cuz thats what he uses now on his Gibson es-333 custom, and i dont think he wires it in any special way, im not sure though and i dont think many people in here would know, maybe they do i might be wrong.

Old school, it's Bucker, volume, output, in an alder bodied strat. New stuff, it's bucker, volume, output, in a semi hollow Gibson ES-333. If I remember right, he also uses Mesa something or anothers.

all correct. the buckers r, Invader on the strat, and Dirty Fingers on the gibson

But you dont think anyone knows the wiring
the wiring for a singe pickup, 1 volume guitar is on the seymour duncan webpage under support-> schematics

Re: Tom Delonge

well i have the invader and a JB on my guitar if u dont really care about clean i guess that s an ok match. But i kind of regret choosing that setup it really lacks everything

Re: Tom Delonge

Yer it was a fender strat into a marshall in the early days, then a Gibson Les Paul into a marshall (i think) during Dude ranch, from then on it was his Sig. Fender into Mesa and Marshall, and now i think its his Sig. Gibson into just mesa's.

As for wiring its like these guys have said, just a humbucker and a single Volume, nothing fancy. And yes you can get a good strong punk sound out of the invader, as thats what i use mine for, also it may be worth considering the JB, as many people use that for punk too.

Hi!
his old rig:

it think he has standard humbucker with one Vol. wiring like Holydirt says

imo JB in bridge has a good punk sound. think of greenday (basket case etc) he uses a stratcopy with JB in a modded JCM 800 (?). Think of No Use For A Name they use les Pauls with JB in Rectos (last show i saw they had a marshall too but Tony uses his Les Paul thru a recto eith marshall cab (not sure))

Invader has a darker tone. I think the Ataris used them. I never played it!

what wood is the guitar??

Re: Tom Delonge

From what I have read, Tom uses the invader live and the sh-6 distortion in the studio. Well, that was when he playing a strat.

This is pretty important, like someone else said the invader has a 'darker' tone, and if it went into soemthing like a thick mahogany it could prove too much.

A distortion in the studio?? Hmm...

Re: Tom Delonge

a distortion in the studio? Are you sure about that? Well Im a huge blink fan and will tell you to get toms sound you mainly have to rely on a mesa amp. The other factor would be the guitar of course, in this case he used to use an alder strat with an invader in the bridge, i dont think there is any special wiring as its just bucker into volume no tone knobs. He also uses fairly thick strings which are ernie ball heavy bottom and skinny top. I know when he did start using gibson ess 335's before his signature came out he used a regular one with an invader in the bridge. NOw as im sure you know he uses the dirty fingers gibson pick up. If your trying to nail tom's tone than thats a good way to start by getting either axe and amp. IN the studio i know he uses alot of vintage guitars along with multiple amps. He also uses three dfifferent amps ata time and mixes it together for each song in the studio. Thus there is a fairly large difference in his tone live and in the studio.
