Hi!
himo JB in bridge has a good punk sound. think of greenday (basket case etc) he uses a stratcopy with JB in a modded JCM 800 (?).
just chiming in on this one...
billy joe has got an original fender and playss through mesas.. at least he did back in '97 when i saw em for the last time

Re: Tom Delonge

I used to follow Blink-182 really closely and he always had Invaders in his Fender Strats (from 1999-2003). I visited the SD artist pages a few times while he was still using Fender Strats and he was always listed as only using the Invader in bridge position.

I'm not a massive greenday fan, and ive seen him use a couple of different guitars, but most of the time ive seen him use his Fernandes Strat copy, i think this is the one with a JB in the bridge (slanted). As i see greenday at the reading festival next sunday, i will report back then :burnout: :burnout: :burnout:

Re: Tom Delonge

Actaully, Billy Joe uses a vintage Gibson Melody Maker Jr. into Marshalls... if my memory serves me. He also uses his Fernandes copy with the JB in it, a few fender strats and I've even seen him using a Squier. But, most of all, I've seen him using that Melody Maker. (I used to LOVE Greenday, Blink 182 and the Offsrping)

Isn't Fender making a Sig. model for Billy Joe based on his Fernandez? I read that in a Guitar Player. It would be interesting, Fender making a copy of a Strat copy. :burnout:

Re: Tom Delonge

I have talked to Tom alot about his gear in the old days and at the time it was a white, sticker covered strat with an invader and a black les paul standard through a marshall JCM 900 100 watt head. Then he switched to mesa amps (sponsorship im sure) The Gibson everyone talks about is not the cheap es-333 but a stripped down es-335 with the dirty finger pickup in it. Rumor has it that Gibson wouldnt go for the invader and Tom changes the gibson pup out in favor of seymour duncans (but i dont know). He also still uses Fender guitars with invaders and only volume control. They are Jazzmasters now though. Toms new sound is definantly the ES 335 with the invader he used during Boxcar tours. As for his amps thats anyones guess at the last show i went to there was a 5 foot tall rack loaded with preamps and power amps and i have seen studio pics with a Recto. His cabs are custom mesa

Thanks this was really helpful, but are you sure the fenders he uses now are jazzmasters? Last couple of times ive seen blink he used a white fender on a couple of songs, but i thought it was a toronado rather than a jazzmaster?

Pretty cool that he may still use invaders, shows seymour really do have pickups good enough to make people still come back :)

P.S. Looks to me like the Newbie isnt returning  shame because there was alot of helpful advice for him here.

Re: Tom Delonge

Sorry i havnt been online in a while. I am fairly sure its a jazzmaster with a string thru bridge and an invader. Custom built by fender. It may be a tornado though i cant say for sure, they look to similar. If it is a tornado that would explain why steve klein of nfg plays one. I was to busy gawking at that beautiful gibson he has.
