Tone of P-Rail in humbucker mode

Interested in P-Rails for versatility, but since I'll be spending 80% of my time in HB mode I am most concerned with the full HB tone. So, for anyone with good amount of experience with these pups how would you describe the tone of the P-Rail in humbucker mode? Is there an existing SD pup that they sound close to? They will be either in a thin bodied mahogany guitar or an LP or LP styles mahogan/maple top guitar. Thanks for any help you can give!

I have them in my semi-hollow and really like the humbucker mode... probably my favorite of the four. The best way I can describe them is "thick and hot."

A lot of guys don't really like the HB mode for exactly that reason, but these things always come down to a matter of personal taste.

Here's a link to a YouTube video of me playing her with my band about a year ago... the opening lick is me, and I'm only playing rhythm on this song (yes, there's another guitarist... just hidden behind our singer/percussionist). My playing isn't great and neither is the phone recording, but it'll give you some clue about the sound. Bridge P-Rail, full humbucker mode, Zoom G5's 1959 Marshall amp model.

In series humbucker mode, "thick and hot" definitely describes it. It's almost JB-ish, not quite that far though. Don't forget that you can also set them up for parallel humbucking mode too, which gives you a brighter PAF tone. These things are extremely versatile if you make all the wiring options available.

They are hot is series mode. In fact to me they were hotter than a Jb, but horribly woolly and muddy.
I much preferred parallel. Somewhat like the PAF strength offerings like the 59 or PG.
