tone pot cap values help?

I just put Phat Cats in my vintage Ibanez semi-hollow (ES335-type), and I replaced the 500K volume pots with 250K's. Real nice, but now I'd like to replace the tone pots with 250s as the bass strings are a touch muddy and the tone controls don't seem to do much after the first few degrees of rotation. Given that I prefer a cleaner as opposed to overdriven or distortion sound (closer to a versatile jazz & easy blues pickup tone than rock), what's a good choice for cap value on those 250K tone pots? Also, do I want an "audio taper" pot or the other type, which I can't remember the name of. Many thanks. John

Going lower won't make your guitar any less muddy. Higher value pots will cut fewer highs than lower value pots. I believe that .022 uf caps are generally used, but someone else may have more input on what you're looking for.

There are linear and audio taper pots. Audio taper are probably what you want, they approximate a curve which is supposed to sound more natural to us than linear taper pots because we don't hear linearly.

If you wait around untill maybe tomorrow, more people will probably have some input.
