Tone Pot or no tone pot

Hi all
If i used a 500k volume pot with a 500k tone pot and had them both set to max would there be a difference in sound if i had only a volume Pot no tone pot set to max?

Re: Tone Pot or no tone pot

metalmachine is right. If you want to have both, you can convert a regular pot to no-load pot with nail polish or enamel paint.

Re: Tone Pot or no tone pot

You can wire a 470k resistor and a .47 cap to you volume pot in series I beloved. This will have the same effect as a 500k tone pot on 10. Somebody correct me. If I am wrong

Re: Tone Pot or no tone pot

Believe not beloved. 0.047 cap. I hate cell phones and auto correct. Tried to edit my post and every thing went retarded

So does this still allow it to act as a volume Pot but have the same effect as if it were working with a tone pot on max

Re: Tone Pot or no tone pot

guys instead of starting a whole new thread and not tryin to hijack here let me ask,
what are the differences between 500K pots switched to a 300K compared to swapping the A5 magnet to a A2 magnet?
they both reduce the highs right?
like with the JB is it best to use a 300K or swap the A5 out for a A2 to trim some of the highs?

Not exactly. Magnet swaps change other characteriscs too. For example the bass gets weaker and spongier when going from a5 to alnico 2
